Umm...are we assuming all these cars are stock, cuz most people with performance cars do mods to them.

And I've seen a G35 run 15's at the track, a bad driver can make any car slow.

04 TSX... I'll mess around w/ anything, but wouldnt expect to win against a HEMI, a legacy, beat a A4 1.8T, but not the 3.0, know I cant take a 4.2, esp those I highlighted... dont think I could take

Yea, the time they got for the GS430 it is a little optimistic especially with a high trap speed of 103MPH. I hang out a lot in the Lexus forums and I haven't seen anyone get those numbers stock.

almost any car with REAL AMG badges on it.
E55 is a rocket
I rode in a C32 AMG(this is before they went to C55 without the S/C)the V-6 with the S/C was a BEAST i can't imagine the C55.
btw; rumor is for 2006
The new Monte Carlo and Impala SS will have a 5.3 in them and I suppose RWD. I doubt if you guys will beat them.
I rode in a 2004 Impala SS (stock) and it felt pretty similar to a CL-S
another one is the S type R
and for 2006 M5

BTW: Someone brought up against the R32. They are quick little cars but if i was to build a "rocket VW hatch" I'd go with the 1.8 turbo ready motor. (well soon to be 2.0 liter) I've seen some 600 HP Turboed 1.8s whip the hell out a Z06

z06 -65 grand
a good detailing-125 bucks
getting beat by a little GTI- PRICELESS

Try 43K new for the last year, only $55K sticker to begin with. You can pick up a nice used one for $30-35K, which is what you would spend on a new GTI with all that turbo work. It think even with that kinda power tho, the ZO6 will prob still school the GTI around the track or the twisties. I'm not sure I want to feel 150mph in a GTI, 150 in teh Vette is smooth sailing.

torquey RWD+balance of a high wire walker > front heavy FWD w/ gobs of power

and come on, lol, regardless of power ZO6 > GTI

Maybe you should ask the guys @ HPA Motorsports how the GTi feels @ 150mph.....or maybe 200mph .

I still dunno, not exactly an aerodynamic car like the Vette...

And "At $25,000 above the cost of an R32, the HPA Stage II upgrade isn't inexpensive."

True. I guess you've gotta be a true VW-phile......which me and you are NOT!!

But, I know a couple VW-freaks who'd think nothing of getting an R32 over a C6.

the way this thread was going, "have fun with" was implying beat or at least tie.

I assumed you were following the pattern of the others. (consistency)

The R32 is not a race car, but can be made to become one. VW has great logic behind the R32, read up on it on www.vwvortex.com

Now, as the for list, some of the cars are a joke. All races are a driver's race, no matter how much power either car has.

hah im not trying to be an asshole but ive been part of whoretex for like 4 years now ... as well ive been through basically every mod on a 1.8t. so im familiar with vw .. yes i know the block is a 3.2 in the r32.

I know its not a race car... but for what your getting there is noj ustification to sepnd 30000 dollars on it. Now if VW would drop the price to 24000-25000 then theyd have something to talk about.

But right now the performance, track results, and quality issues that vw are renounced for sucks and hinder in comparison to similar cars ... ie. EVO, STI (yes i know the r32 is suppose to be a different "breed" of car not geared towards competition with the EVO and STI, but truth be told .. that is its competition). VW jumped for joy when they thought they came out with a super car .. hahha.. yes i said super car ... while all the meantime creating nothing more then a car that onlyhardcore vw fans that have lived adn driven vw there whole lives would really want (not saying others wouldnt but its the justification that vw used to build these which is obviously seen)

I've had my fair chance to drive the R32, the only thing it has going for it are the seats. But, still, the justificaion of dropping 30g on this car is nowhere near where it would be for lets say a EVO MR or RS. (RS ? i think thats the trim)

Anyways, the R32 is like the stupid kid that everyone laughs at an Honors College Course. Out of place, and not up to par with the rest of the class, but feels it is therefore it thinks it is a contender. I KNOW I KNOW stupid comparrison but it works.

The R32 is just another piece of shit that VW created in attempts to raise revenue to avoid there lethal future. (Dont believe me, read up on it and look at sales figure for the past fiscal year). VW has been on a downward slope for the past few years, and their failed attempts to produce overpriced "tuner" cars .. are obserd and to little to late. ("TUNER" .... they feel their cars are about this yet go in with a CAI, or an upgraded exhaust and watch how quick they void your warrynty).

In conclusion, R32 is nothing more then an overpriced car that will have its windows fall in and coilpacks crap out (hahaha you can tell im an ex mk4 owner)

Stable in a straight line? Would you feel comfortable doing that on a track, nailing the brakes down to 100, slamming around a corner, and gassing it back up to 150 again?

I'm not doubting you or anything, just curious. I don't know that much about GTIs.

gotta give the grand cherokee respect where its do .. pulling mid to high 14s is pretty damn respectable for a non sportty suv with sub 300 hp (well not anymore since they put a hemi in it)

Notice how I mentioned the TL-S STOCK as the car in question when I made that list since the original poster created the thread and he has a TL-S, and how I said assuming all these cars are stock. Since everyone always makes a big deal about which cars they could and can't beat I figure this would be an interesting thread. All the damn machismo you guys have with ''OH, LET HIM COME BY IN MY SUPERCHARGED CL-S6 WITH HIS STOCK 350Z, I'LL SHOW HIM A THING OR TWO'' made this go to waste. Also, this thread was made before on A-TL before the website modifications so there was no mention of a TSX being involved at that point. You guys are talking about engine swaps and expensive performance parts inside of these cars, and of course it would change the dynamic if they aren't stock. I don't expect you to lose in a turbo CL-S6 against a stock R32.

For the record, I raced a stock '97 Camaro Z28 in my stock '03 TL-S and I was at his door up to 90 mph with a good jump, and he was really pinning it because the kid hates my guts. The 0-to-60 on one of those bad boys is about 5.6-5.8, which is not at all overbearing for a TL-S or CL-S.

We had the Kenne Bell S/C on it...this was a 2001 Grand Cherokee LTD with the 4.7 V8

we got rid of the car about 8 months ago. Just sold it as is.

It had a lot of other stuff done to it as well, it was a little project my dad for some reason decided to do.

Best 0-60 was 5.4 and best 1/4 was 13.6 (I think it was @ 104mph)

really put a shock on a lot of people. I remember racing my friends Saab turbo which was about the same as the CL-P , I jumped 2 full car lenghts in the first 40 mph.

0-30 time was 1.8 secs

Original Article from Motor Trend

Horsepower, hp @ rpm, SAE net 325 @ 5000 345
Torque, lb-ft @ rpm, SAE net 362 @ 3400 380

PERFORMANCE

0-30 mph 1.8 Same
0-40 mph 2.9 2.8
0-50 mph 4.2 4.0
0-60 mph 5.6 5.4
0-70 mph 7.3

0-90 mph 12.3
0-100 mph 15.0 13.3
Standing quarter mile, sec/mph 14.2 @ 97.4 13.6 @104?

I really miss that thing, and would love to build another with my moms 2003 Overland (260hp) base...Kenne Belle says you can pump it close to 365hp with the S/C and the Mopar Chip. Those who haven't been on here a while...I have some wierd obsession with Jeeps.

That makes some sense. According to car-stats, the 97 Z28 LT1 does 0-60 in 5.7 and the 1/4 in 14.1. That car has torque down low, but runs outta breath up high. Factor in age of vehicle, shitty driver launch and you have a car that can easily be a mid to high 14 second car. Now the LS1 on the other hand. Even a shit driver can look good in an LS1 Z28.
