its so true. What the fuck are they waiting for... 300 and 400 hp sedans? those things would put ford right back in the hp wars with the big three and pretty much just blow them away...

GM has the same things, 4 door cars w/ LS2's in them. They'd both definately put the pressure on Chrysler w/ their SRT-8's

This is the same topic that posted, except his was from a website.

I read the C&D article when I got my issue. I'd be sweet to get the falcon here. I think it'd do pretty good, but it sure would shake up the mustang market.

Imagine the headline "American car companies return to profitability after bringing cool cars to America (and axing worthless brands like Buick, GMC Truck, Mercury, etc>"...but they are too stubborn

Yep, I read the thread title, and thought Merkur... they mention it in the 1st paragraph...

Ford has been burnt before on bring in a euro car before, so that's why they are hesitant to do it again...

I got that issue about last week. did anyone check out the Falcon GT 290 Boss? That thing pretty badass. I'd seriously consider it if they sent it across the pond. it's 290 whatever the Aussies use to measure power of an engine.

I can't argue with the powertrains and the idea of performance, but I think the cars in design are just too bland. I think it would be best to simply wait for the next generations of these vehicles.

Hmm...this sounds familiar...(cough...GTO...cough)

I think that Ford Europe has some great looking products. The Mondeo and Focus are sweet looking cars, and they are well liked across the pond. Why not here in America?

I also would love to know what Ford is thinking. It's extremely old news that the Japanese three is about to take the wind completely out of domestic car sales, with Toyota looking to surpass GM as the world's largest auto-maker, and it's decisions like the ones Ford makes to not bring it's cool cat cars from overseas to our shores to compete for our performance dollar that will tighten the noose around their necks.

I don't think Ford gives a damn about performance anymore. For the simple 2 reasons #1. the SVT program dead. which was known for making exciting and fun truck and cars. #2. Fuel prices are outragous. if you remember back in the 70's when Dodge had the orginal Hemi, and muscle cars were big people started buying cars that was more "eco-friendly." I think Ford not positioning themself as a Performance powerhouse but more as a domestic Toyota if that makes sense.
