Which car for my mom?
I'm not even gonna try to write this in paragraphs since I've been writing my final paper for almost 8 hours straight.
whatever
so..
- my mom wants a new car
- she surprisingly enjoys driving, although she's 47 years old
- 04 Accord Coupe V6 EX is her current car
- she doesn't really need to carry other people around in her car
- drives 20 miles round trip to her work daily
- budget > 40K
- my family never has leased a car but wants to try it for the first time
- already looked at MB C300, BMW 328i sedan, Lexus ES 350, and Infiniti G35
What do you guys think?

I like Lexus a lot, and I like the ES a lot...but this isnt the car for someone who enjoys driving and is coming from a V6 Accord Coupe.
C350? IS350? 328? 128? SC430? SLK? Z4? G37 Coupe? CTS?
Does it have to be a sedan is she already drives a coupe? Would she enjoy a smaller roadster? Give a few more details.

I think C350, IS350, SC430, SLK, Z4, and CTS are out of budget. (40K)
She just needs a fun afforable reliable mid sized "sedan".

Caddy CTS?
The new CTS is very expensive.. I checked it out when I had to do a marketing project at local Caddy dealership, and the manager said Caddy is struggling with the new CTS since the headquarter don't allow its dealerships to give out discounts or something.

Otherwise, she should try the 328i and the G35. The TSX may seem slow to her since she's in a V6 now.
Also, check the LA Times sports section for lease deals on the CTS as well as the other cars-- that may help move the Cadillac dealer along, esp. if they have problems moving the CTS. There is 1.9 or 2.9% financing on it now for purchasers.

the C300 MB is the perfect car for a mom: not too big, no too powerful, great seats, elegant.
the ES350 is too big, the BMW 3 exterior is simply ugly, the G35 is for you more than for her... 315 hp.

I know you said sedan, but if she doesn't "really need to carry other people around in her car," then maybe the S2K?
EDIT......
agranado beat me to it.

Although she doesn't need to carry other people around in her car, I want something bigger and safer than S2K for my mom.

I'll probably visit dealerships with her for test drives this weekend.
MB C300 Sport, G35 sedan, BMW 328i are the most suitable I guess eh
I don't know how they do in gas mileage tho

We had one as a rental when the ML was in the shop...again. For the same price, i'd much rather have a TL/G35/3/IS350The IS350 starts out @ $36k I believe, but once you add some must have options, it ends up being in the mid 40s.

If you want to put in HID lights, you MUST buy some packages first that are like 3.5K.
^^^ Brand new IS350 for below 40k is real hard. How about used IS350? HID isn't something you shouldn't be worrying about because there is always aftermarket HID kit to replace the stock headlights.

sedan or coupe?
if you're leasing, then you should be looking at good residuals, unless you plan on buying out at the end. will she even notice a difference between FWD and RWD ? perhaps a legacy GT SpecB would be nice.. rare-ish car too.
for a brand new car yes, but otherwise you can modify it like any other part of your car... but hid kits are
(unless you go with projectors)

sounds like G35 is the way to go if she wants a fun car to drive.

Maybe a G35 S.
It's the only car listed really that I think she'll like through and through.
And that you'd be happy with too.
And that she can afford.

Agreed, even though I hated G35 ever since I bought my TL without any valid reason. haha
I will have her test drive it. I think she'll like it too, it's a great car.

A fully loaded C300 Sport is just about 41K. (too many needless options tho)
I've done a fair amount of on&off-line research before starting up a thread.

CTS ftw!!!
My mom has one (not the newest generation, so I don't know if the newer one has any known faults...I'm assuming its ok) and she loves it just as I do. It's comfy, and has very nice pull and driving feel.....it's aggressive but at the same time it's not rock hard like a 3 series (it's made for aggressive comfort if that makes sense)...and after 3 years of having it, it still has that orgasmic Cadillac smell in the car.....ahhhhhh.....
