Car got towed, Questions on damage...

I went to Miami beach today. We have an office there. We are moving it. I parked in the back in the no parking area, but was moving stuff out of the office. I put 2 boxes in the trunk, then went inside for 15 min. Came out my car was gone. I spoke to the building & got the towing co's address & #. Called them. $160 cash only please
So I pick it up. It doesn't look to have any damage & drives fine. I asked them how they towed it & they refused to answer any questions.

So the car was locked & 1st gear engaged with the parking brake on.

What kind of damage could have been done to the car. I'm not sure if the car was jimmy'd open first. When I got to it it was still locked & in 1st & parking brake on.

How did you leave the car? Brake on? In gear?

I don't believe they tow the car with it in gear and certainly not with the parking brake on so they probably slim jimmed it open, made sure it was in neutral with PB off and off they went.

Yes, I didn't see any jimmy marks on the windows. The car was as I left it inside when I picked it up. The tow place was about 3 miles from the building.

They are not going to bother to slim jimmed and watch out for your car. If all, they simply would just tolled it while your brakes' on. If they didn't bother answering when you asked them, they wouldn't give a damn about the condition of your car after towed. You parked illegally, they have every right to toll it. Best of luck and hope your car is ok.

I've seen tow trucks in Chicago take cars away in 10 seconds flat...no joke. They don't care about your car at all. If you had the e-brake on, check the condition of the rear brakes.

i feel sorry for you man however here's the thing when you go up against a tow company it's basically your word vs theirs. I had a buddy with a camero in college. he illegally parked it(which i know stupid) they came towed it away. the tow company hooked onto the rear end and funked up the rear end(which he ended up replaceing) he went to the tow company and explained prior to the tow it was "fine" and now the rear end "messed up" and had a written letter from his mechanic. they refused to pay. so he took the tow company to court. the tow company won because they said it was like that prior to the tow.

most tow companies don't give a shit about the car they just want the money for the tow+ storage fees.
