Car Accident
Car Accident
Hello all, I'm new to this site and I just purchased my 3g 05' TL not even a week ago...make long story short I was coming home this morning from work and I made a right turn at a light and I hit the curb (snow blizzard)...kinda bad, really bad. Curb was on left side (little island) bammmm I went over the curb....luckily no cars were around...road was too slippery and driving a bit fast maybe 15mph at the time...anyhow after the accident I was able to drive it to my in law's house since they lived no more than 1/2 mile away. After the accident I noticed that the alignment was off cause I had to steer it at 9' o'clock to go straight, noticed clicking/grinding noise coming from driver side tire, cracked the rim, and brake pedal was not working properly....so I had to drive realllllly slow and use the e-brake. My ? is for you pros...what else do you think could be wrong with the car?
thanks in adv. all

Did you brake while you slammed into the curb? When my brother did this, he ended up fubaring his whole driver side brake (including cracking the rotor in half) bent a control arm and his suspension had to be replaced.
Take it to the shop?

Pics of said damage will get you lots of info on here. You could have damaged lots of suspension components, including control arms, bent sway bar, cracked steering knuckle, endlinks, balljoints, wheel bearings, ect. If you were braking really hard when you hit you may have also damaged the caliper and/or the brake rotors. Could be lots of things.
Take the car to the dealer and have them look it over. I'd recommend using a flatbed to get there though by the sound of this.

Sorry to hear about your car.
It sounds like all kinds of bad things could have happened, from bent suspension and axle pieces, frame damage, to broken brake parts.
FWIW, this is one case where an insurance claim should be made-- have the adjuster go to your car for an initial estimate, or send the car via flatbed to one of the body shops used by Acura or Honda dealers. G/L.

An adjuster should see the car w/i 3 days, but it may be less-- they generally call to arrange a time. The adjuster may just drop by, if the car is not going anywhere. You may have to wait until through the weekend, though.
The adjuster will visually estimate the damage, give you a quote and then you can be sent to a body shop, or given a choice of shops.
Check to see if the body shops used by the Acura or other car dealers are on the insurance co. accepted list-- they will do the work for the insurer's estimate (plus your deductible). If further damage (electrical, unseen mechanical) is are found by the body shop, it will arrange for the adjuster to pay an added amount to repair.
If a shop you like is not on the insurer's approved list, you'll have to work with the shop to see that it will accept the insurer's estimate.
Get a rental and wait for repair completion.

this is a link to my thread about my accident last year.
i hit a curb but it bent the wheel back to where it was perpendicular to the car so i couldn't drive it.
check your roof (especially along the sunroof) to see if there are any buckles or waves. that happened to me. apparently, it's an easy fix. but you'll want to make sure it's noticed.
in my thread, which was for my first and only accident ever, i gave updates on the entire insurance and repair process. i was very worried and paranoid since it my first accident and i wasn't familiar with the process.

UPDATE:
just spoke with the adjuster on the phone and he stated that the parts cost were under my deductible (500), but after I take it to a shop the pros will more than likely find more things that's wrong with the vehicle. He recommended one of his shops since they are blue ribbon...lifetime warranty on all repairs they work on or I could of picked out my own shop but there's no warranty on work...at the most 90 days.
shop is suppose to call me now and schedule for a time to p/u my car...

Update:
right about yesterday evening the tow(flatbed) picked up the vehicle and sent it to the auto shop. Spoke with the person in charge of my vehicle this morning and he said he'd already ordered the rim for my TL and will arrive tomorrow. After that he will then replace the rim and test the car out for further damage and I will know more of what is wrong with my car. I also mentioned for them to do a water test on top of the roof to see if theres any water leaking from above....for now

That sounds more like an appropriate estimate based on your first post. That's what happens when the adjuster doesn't see the car. Don't be surprised at a couple days' delay if he has to go to the shop to confirm the damage and repairs, BTW. Find out if the shop will include replacing your RIGHT strut insert if you have a lot of miles on the car, too-- might as well have matched strut inserts.
picked up my car yesterday...drives normal again, but i notice that the vsa! triangle light is on and the word "vsa" is on...gonna have to call the shop to see if they can do ne thing or maybe go to honda/acura.
Have you tried pushing the VSA button to see if it goes away?
