Can't trade car in

Dealer wont let me trade car in and pick up new car because I don't have the title. I never received the title. Is there anything that can be done?

I called a few dealers and they have no problem with that. Should I just go to a different dealer?
I already got approved for loan. Will going to different dealer lose the loan approval?

Is the car paid off? If not, you wouldn't have the title and they would have to pay it off. Just watch out for negative equity.

If you don't have the title how did you register the car?

The title is normally two parts. One you hold and one the lien holder has. Without both you can't sell the car (or trade it in). However, most dealerships will allow you to trade it in and pay off your outstanding loan (and roll it into your new one). Do you owe more than it's worth?

How much do you owe on your current car and how much are they giving you on a trade? If you owe money the creditor has the title. The dealer you are trading in to will have to contact the lien holder and pay off the amount owed. If you owe more than they are giving you on a trade for the dealer to pay off, they may request you to pay off the lien and trade the car in.

I just got off the phone with the DMV. There was a mixup so the title was never issued. They just processed it. Now when I check the status of the title it shows today's date as the title issue date.
The people that helped me at the DMV were very friendly, polite, and helpful.

I would go to a different dealer. Although I have only outright owned two cars, when traded I never had the title. Most dealers have a title clerk that can handle that information.

They had a the sales boy follow me home to pick up the title. Guess they didn't trust me to do it.

The dealer is holding the car for me with deposit required. That does mean something right?

It's a 330i.
The dealers holding it without me putting a deposit on it.

If I get a G35coupe I can save some money. Use the savings to invest.

Sounds like a plan.. A car would always lose value, but its a call you have to make... Good luck
