Cant Decide between 06 Civic Si or 03 Accord V6
im looking into buying one of these vehicles and was hoping a few of you had experience with the pros and cons of each vehicle.
possibly even trading in my 99 TL if the price is right.
im not a fan of the 4 door accords of that gen so it will be a coupe.
the Si can be either 2 or 4 door.
each will have to be a 6spd (no more autos for me)
im not racing the car either way, just like to have some get-up for highway driving so both are fine in that category.
Interior pros and cons?
Reliability pros and cons?
any input would be great.

I have an '05 Accord six-speed coupe. I purchased the car in the winter of 2005, it being the first Honda manufactured car I had ever purchased. In short, I have absolutely no regrets about buying it. The six speeds have specific front brake rotors, chassis tuning, engine intake, and sort of a quasi cold air intake. I rarely drive it, but each time I do it brings a smile to my face. The road manners are exemplary, the gearbox and shifter is a joy to use, and it's obviously built to a high standard.
My only complaint thus far has been one of headroom, or more precisely the lack of it. I'm slightly over 6'4", and had to drive with my head at an angle. Still, this never prompted me to sell it, as I had the seating mounts and seat cushion professionally lowered to accommodate my height. It's still a little tight on the head, but acceptable.

where is....
i say go for the accord, or go test drive both.
i drove an 08 si and for DD low rpms suck because of low gear ratio and lack of tq. its really only alive at 4k+. but even the i4 accord is better at picking up speed without mashing the gas.

Both are good cars, but very different. The early 8th gen. Si's have a few common issues, most significant being a problem with 3rd gear, there is a service bulletin about it and it should be covered but I would want to make sure it was fixed before I bought it. It is important to be selective about buying used Si's a lot of idiots buy them, destroy them and move on. If you are looking at the previous generation Accord, as long as you find a clean specimen and go with a manual transmission they are as bullet proof as any car made today. As I said they are very different cars and both are great examples of their class.
It seems you keep a car for a while and I suspect the Si will hold up better because it's newer, assuming the specific car you purchase is in good shape and the 3rd gear issue has been fixed. The Si will get better fuel economy and will be cheaper to maintain, gas prices are more then likely going to continue to rise moving into the future and fuel economy is going to become a more significant factor. I have had a number of cars and the Si I am currently driving is the cheapest car I've bought in 10 years and I really like it! It's fun to drive, it's comfortable, it's convenient and it's really affordable, unless something drastic changed in my life I would be hard pressed to replace it any time soon.
Test drive both, the Accord is very similar to your current TL, the Si is a different animal, I don't think their is a wrong choice, it boils down to which you like better and which fits your needs better.

thanks for the input so far guys.
i am going to test drive both.
i love my TL but for the time and money i'd have to put into it to 6spd swap it.
i'd rather just take on another car in the honda family with built in 6spd and a "newer" interior.
i'll write up my info on each of them as i test drive them.
