C-55

Just a new topic to chat about:

DId anyone see the new MB C-55????

It replaces the old C-32, which was a screamer in it's own right, with a V-8 making 362 HP..$55 Grand, way over the top, but STILL....

We can dream.

(BUT I still LOVE my TL!)

I think alot of people overlook the CL Class..look at these stats..

2005 CL 600
Base Price: $192,450 Total Options: $0
Total Price: $192,450

Engine type 5,513-cc intercooled twin-turbocharged SOHC 36-valve 60° V-12.
Drive configuration Rear-wheel drive.
Fuel and ignition system
ME 2.7.1 engine management. Integrated sequential multipoint fuel injection and phased twin-spark ignition.
Transmission Type
Driver-adaptive electronic 5-speed automatic.
Bore and stroke -
Compression ratio 9.0:1
Net power 493 hp @ 5,000 rpm
Net torque 590 lb-ft @ 1,800–3,500 rpm
Rear axle ratio 2.65:1
Fuel

Premium unleaded, 91 pump octane.
Tank capacity: 88.0 litres (with 11.0-litre reserve).
PERFORMANCE
Acceleration,

There was one on TOP GEAR where it had something over 700 lbs feet of torque. They put it against the Bentley Coupe and Aston Martin and it wiped the floor of both of them. The ultimate sleeper.

gd to see they are dropping the 3.2 V6 supercharged, it's low cost and powerful but it's not smooth and noisy

the C55 will be more expensive than the C32 coz the engine costs more than the old one

Went to PA this weekend and while driving on 83 North, a test driven C55 pulled up behind me from an on-ramp. Kinda took me by surprise. The only reason I knew it was a new C55 was 1) Dealer Plates, and 2)I got a good view of the rear end as it passed me while I was cruising at 90 mph. I noticed the car was loaded too with the driver and 3 passengers. Incredible power!

MATCAT, you are referring to the new CL65. 604 hp and I think 738 lb-ft of torque. Monstrous! Oh, the $192k is reflective of the CL65 not the CL600. The CL600 comes in at a cheaper and more affordable $129K. www.mbusa.com for anyone interested.

Yeh that’s the one. It looks so understated with its styling that you wouldn’t know it would blow the doors of most Ferraris, Lamborghinis and just about anything else it comes across. And yes, it CAN beat the SLR-McLaren and maybe the ENZO for way less money! WHAT A SLEEPER!

Here is a small review of it.

And what better way to reach speed than to throttle up the most powerful engine yet to come from AMG's workshops. The V12's 5980cc, attained through both a larger bore and longer stroke over its 5.5-liter progenitor, is stuffed into the S Class sedan as well as the CL and, says the factory, can rocket both models from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in a mere 4.4 sec. Reaching 124 mph takes just 13.3 sec., and if the car weren't electronically limited to about 155 mph (250 km/h), top speed could appproach the speedo's final readout of 360 km/h (223 mph). My pants seat was certainly telling me the CL 65 AMG is fast, though in a deceptive, understated way.

And yet another toy:

This month's issue of Motor Trend profiles the Kleemann Tuner MB's - Ohmygod!

They got 570bhp/580 ft-lbs out of a 5.4 liter blown V8 put in a C-Class!

Just imagine. Price around $99K; 0-60 in 3.8 secs and a 12.2 1/4 mile! Four Doors...

That's what I'm talkin about!

332 @ 2300
redline at 6000, but even with the huge ass tires in the back, it chirps 2->3 gear shifts!

Honestly i think the CL is the classiest of all benzes. such a line up too with CL500 CL600 CL55 CL65, BMW doesent have anything on the CL even with the new 6 Series. They are the rarest of all M-B and they are sportier than the S but not as show-off as the SL, just my

CL is basically a S-class coupe, just like the legendary 560SEC, made with the platform of the S class, just like a TL/CL lineup

SL is a luxury roadster that has a hard top convertible and it's a 2-seater, looks similar but CL is a lot larger than the SL

The guy across the street from me has a CL55 AMG. Sick car. The sound is awesome. 493 HP makes beautiful music.
