why not a used Toyota Sienna, IMO a better vehicle than the odyssey. Very reliable, decent power and nice interior, tons of standard features too.

i still dont see how you can be looking at an SUV on one hand and a minivan on the other. totally different vehicles.

We shopped both types before getting our Murano. (Specifically: Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, Lexus RX330 & Nissan Murano) For most of our purposes, both vehicle types met our needs. Now cross shopping an S2000 and an Acura TL would be a stretch IMHO.

I agree- when we look to replace our Pathfinder (Great truck BTW) we'll be looking at both the new MDX, new Sequoia, Yukon, and Escalade and the Honda Ody and the Sienna. Our purchase decision will likely ride on how much you compromise in the big SUV's to avoid driving a minivan. My wife and I are much like many others here who don't like minivans but acknowledge how functional they are and how much less $$$ they cost compared to SUVs.

My boss has a QX4. He's got a toddler, and it seems to suit him just fine. I think they're pretty nice.

As long as you're looking at minivans too, have you looked at the Town and Country? My buddy's parents have one, and they use it to tow a boat around with. Inside is really pretty nice. I'd get the Honda over a Chrysler, but just giving you another option.

QX4 mileage is horrible. Back in 2000, when my parents drove it, it didn't matter since gas prices were so cheap, but I would think twice before getting it.

My father regularly got 13mpg commuting from Queens to Manhattan, i.e. traffic

Who wants to drive a minivan?! Who wants to drive a used BMW SUV in the Bible Belt!
Brand new Suburban man!!!

... or go check out the 2006 ES at Harvey Lexus.
They'll have deals on them, surely, before the new 2007s come out.

That was the 3.3L. They put a 3.5 VQ in both the QX and the Pathfinder for 2001 with 240 HP and 265lb/ft of TQ. We regularly get 17 MPG and can crank out 20/21 on the highway on regular gas. These numbers are for both my wife and I driving it and I tend to have a heavier foot.

Never buy BMW AWD...

MDX and 4RUNNER are good choices. but I think 4runner is too big and too "man" for a lady...

ps: Honda Oddysey is a suv?
