Buying a new car...

My mom is now in the market for a new car and told me to start doing some research. She currently has an 08 ES 350. The cars I mentioned to her were an 2010 G37s, 2010 335,2010 C 350, 09 Audi S4.
The only perameters that she gave me were a solid resale value, under 45K and low miles. I just wanted to get yalls opinion on the cars I named off and feel free to give some other suggestions. She said she is open to any type of vehicle (SUV, Coupe, Convertible, Sedan).
Thanks Guys

She's trading in a two year old car for a used car? Not making a value judgement, I'm just trying to understand.

She likes to keep her car under warranty and its about to go out (46k miles) We got the car in late 07. This was the first new car she's ever had and she said she didn't want to take the big loss of buying a new car again.

Try searching threads. This topic comes up a lot. Lotta dialogue on "2010 G37s, 2010 335,2010 C 350, 09 Audi S4" ... especially G37s, 335is, and S4s.

Why take any loss at all then. Tell her to just keep the car.

I know she wants a warranty but if the car is not out of the warranty yet, go to the Lexus dealer with her and get them to quote her an extended warranty from Fidelity.

Another 54k miles of warranty is going to be way cheaper than the depreciation on a used car.

If she has made up her mind, then I would not go for something like an Audi or BMW or Mercedes.

If I were you, I'd suggest she drop down a class and get a VW CC 2.0T ... Great looking car, nice inside (though probably not as nice as the ES350) but the depreciation hit over the next three years on a CC will be less than a S4/C350/335i I'm guessing.

Extended warranty makes sense.

Have her drive all those cars and see which she likes. Doesnt seem like that segment has too many cars that have good resale value anymore..

coming from an es350 I can't imagine she would want or need the performance of the cars you listed.

I would recommend

2011:
VW CC
Audi A4 2.0t
Acura TL
328i
528i (both bmw's can be 45k depending on options)

Smartest choice would be to keep the lex

Along these lines, the new Hyundai Sonata is a good looking car and goes 10/100 on their warranty.

If that is too "low brow" for her, then maybe a Volvo S60. Those can be nicely appointed. And free service for a few years along with a good warranty.

keep the car and get an extended warranty for the car, it'll be much cheaper in the sense of spending money now vs. loosing it on depreciation! As well, it'll be cheaper in the long run too! Insurance costs will decrease or remain level versus increasing with a brand new car! As well, she's probably acclimated to the service at her lexus dealership and the car, why change it when it's not broken!
