If meter maids usually don't give a crap, why would a tow truck driver? Surely the city wouldn't waste their time and money hiring a flatbed tow truck, they'll get the cheapest or quickest option.... the good old hook wherethefuckever and drive off with it.

I didn't give the MB driver much benefit of the doubt though. Was the red curb bright and visible or was it faded beyond readability, were there no signs? etc

Next time I do something dumb enough to get my car towed I expect the tow truck driver to look up my license plate, call the DMV with his clearance, get my cell phone number and call me and ask if I want a flatbed to come out and when would be the best time to tow my illegally parked vehicle.

MB driver pwnt? I think so.... whenever I do something stupid, I learn from my mistakes, once is an accident, twice an idiot. Although I think its common sense to not park illegally.... I don't like bad drivers and try not to be one, and parking in a handicapped spot w/o a permit, next to a red curb, etc. is bad driving.

Yeah, mistake parking illegally. But that ends at the tow. Any damage isn't deserved and sucks that the tow company will have to pay for it.

Agreed - it's your fault...it's not my fault if an idiot doesn't know how to tow a car properly. It was his job and he failed at it, regardless if the benz was illegally parked.

He likely deserved the tow but did not deserve to have his car damaged in the process. (I have witnessed enough illegal parking tows in NYC to know that anything from a few scratches to a full total can be expected when the city tows a vehicle) Unfortunately, the owner's only recourse is to get the car repaired.

The question is: will the insurance carrier repair this without increasing the rates.

If I park in a zone that clearly states car will be towed, that is what I expect. I don't expect the car to get fucked up in the tow process.

nooo the owner doesnt have to pay shit.. the tow truck company does... and on top of that.. if tow truck companys didnt have to pay for all the damage they did to these cars then they would fucking rip the shit out of these cars.. they would give less of a shit if they fucked it up...

As noted earlier, guy was parked in Chinatown. Knowing the area, anything goes down there (it's a relatively small area). Hard to tell what the true story is behind the ticket and tow. that being said, shit happens, so he feels it as hard as every corolla that gets towed. Don't blame the Philly $6 an hour guy who has to figure out how to tow Mercedes and Hyundais.

If I got paid $40/hour to wash dishes I'd lick em clean if I had to.... well not really but you get the point

The restaurant should deal with that then for hiring illegal immigrants to work under minimum wage.... even as a customer I wouldn't even expect the dishes to be all that clean for $4/hour. The fact of the matter is though its relative, the quality of the work tends to drop with lower pay.
