You would think that if they went through the trouble they supposedly did to preserve the car, they would have at least removed the battery.
Whoever gets it, and if it can possibly be restored, I hope they choose not to. It's much more interesting and historic in the condition it's in. I would rather see it cleaned as best they can and try to preserve whats left.

Its pretty obvious that not a lot of thought went into the preservation of the car. I mean besides leaving the battery in and *connected*. The car should have been on blocks without the wheels on the ground. Concrete is not solid, it lets moisture through this is something they knew back in the 50's. They should have had a drainage system in there... They left gas in a container with the car... who would ever think gasoline would be usable after 50 years...
And they can't leave the car as it is now or it will continue to oxidate. Making it truely into a pile of rust. Any chance it has of being restored needs to be taken ASAP. Problem is water got into EVERYWHERE on the car. Parts that are not painted...
I mean even the Egyptians were better at preserving things and they didn't have near the technological know how we do now...
I'd like to see how it looks cleaned up.

still doesn't make up for the lack of thought on the rest of it though

I read in Automobile mag that the city of Tulsa retained the services of that Coddington celebrity hot-rodder guy after the car was dug up. If that's true, he's got a ton of work ahead of him.
