Thumbs down Bound to happen:

Got my first ticket yesterday in my MS6. 57 in a 45. Dammit!

Oh well, pay the reduced fine and do the traffic school thing and no points.

The shitty part about it is I was "Paced" at that speed. No radar, he was behind me the whole time. Freakin' unmarked cars and just a little over 10mph over!

that sux! i got rolled a few weekago in my "race car" at 77 in 55. he hit me from behind with a lazar. v1 didn't make a sound. first time getting a speeding ticket in it in 3 years. (well since i owned it actually). the dude commented on my stripped interior, camera setup and racing harness, he actually thought it was cool. note, i was going to a autox event, only time i drive the car.

Don't wast traffic school on that. Plead not guilty, get the 1st court date. When you get there change your plea to no contest. Since it's your 1st ticket the judge will give you a reduced fine & no points.

Kinda surprised this isn't a "how do I fight this ticket?" thread.

Good for you for owning up and being responsible.

I heard going 9 over they wont pull you and if they do its no points. That sucks because you were so close. If its a first time thing it should be dropped if you fight it.

Sucks... but when you're our age, you figure that when they do get you, it's just payback for all the times they missed us

I got pulled over more in my white tbird then I have in my "arrest me red" CL (never)

As long as you dont have the max number of points, taking the class to take points away is...pointless.

The insurance companies still know you have a ticket.

Ive gotten 3 speeding/wreckless driving tickets since Ive decided to not take the class anymore (5+ years) and my insurance has yet to move.

out here... I'm pretty sure if you opt for traffic school... it's NOT reduced, but you actually pay more

This thread just reminds me of traffic court... some of the people there are so funny. I just went to an arbitration or whatever the hell its called, and people were trying to argue w/ the judge when the deputy wasn't even there and the judge told several people multiple times that this wasn't the place. Annoying at first but thinking back man those people are stupid

Insurance knows nothing unless points get accessed, or a conviction takes place.
If you plead no contest the judge will withhold junacation(guilty verdict) & he will deam the punishment.
The FL system is very easily worked over. Use it.

My insurance agent says otherwise.

In any case, everytime Ive gotten a ticket the cop goes on and on about traffic school. Why would they do that unless its a money-maker? If they think were being unlawful - wouldnt they want the points to add up so a dangerous driver could be taken off the streets?

I think its a cash cow.

The other thing that may help is that I dont jump around on insurance policies. Allstate never raises my rate and they provide good service so why switch. If you switch insurances often removing points could be a good thing, but otherwise let it go.

I counseled my mother and boyfriend and other friends and no one has had their policies increased subsequently.

Not certain about Florida but I am certain insurance companies here in NJ run DMV abstracts regularly on policy holders. (Our insurance premium increased a little when my wife was cited for a non-points violation.)

My insurance has never gone significantly up due to a speeding ticket. I think it went up about $50 once. That was it. Either way, it sucks getting pulled over.

I was recently cited for speeding in Escambia County, Florida, near Pensacola on my wedding anniversary on May 15th. I was setting up a condo with roses, wine, music, the works. Rushed back to pick up the wife, and got nailed coming over a bridge.

It was my first in about three years.

Took traffic school, just got the certificate, and will be sending it in later.

At least Killer didn't b*tch about it....and ask AZ "How do I get out of the ticket".

You should have stepped on the gas when you saw johny law in the rear view with the lights flashing....while at the same time cranking up the stereo with:

"Well, I'm goin' to a place where the tough guys go
and come out even tougher.
A place where a man don't show his feelings,
A place where a man don't cry."..............

Guess you really didn't need the roses, wine, music and the works then.
