Nice. My friend has one of those body styles and just turned his motor into a 396ci NA. Its something like 440 tq and 398hp at the wheels. The thing is a monster. Any plans for yours?

No big plans to be honest. Do all the maintenance and get it running 100%. Fix the little body spots and enjoy it.

Some crappy night time pictures... I love driving this car, the sound of a nice V8 is unbeatable.

All my friends were cuban during high school and this was their ride of choice. So this is what I learned on. I love the fox bodies...and can be had for so cheap. There are some pretty cherry ones out there and bolt ons are soo much cheaper than any other car.
I personally always like the LX 5.0's better but the paint is great on this one...love the color. Stance would be my first chore...

Nice! I've never seen that color before. Is it a Canadian only color?

My father had an '82 GT he modded and my best friend had an '90 LX 5.0 with some mods. I think an underdrive pulley, chip and Flowmasters. A 5.0 with Flowmasters sound is intoxicating.

Good luck with it!

Thanks everybody... I was hoping I'd be able to get a few more drives around the block this week but looks like the snow just keeps piling up...

I don't believe it's a Canadian colour. It's called Ultra Blue Metallic.

My car's twin from somewhere down South:

not sure if you were implying that the colors are the same, but your car's twin looks like a different color to me

anyway I agree, the hood looks much better in those later pics. A cowl hood fits the Foxbody very nicely. A buddy of mine has a Foxbody with the same color, two-tone with silver below the the side molding line. I wasn't sure if it was repainted, resprayed with the same color or otherwise, but it's a beautiful color in person.

Thanks!

Alas, I've summed up the to-do list for this winter. Most importantly, the water pump gasket is shot, there is a slow leak at idle when it's fully warmed up; parts are ordered, $30.00 . I thought the fuel pump was on it's way out because I could hear it at idle, but apparently all Fox's have a loud fuel pump at idle so I'm not going to worry about that, the sunroof seal needs to be replaced, $36.00, I'll do that closer to the summer as well as the hatch struts, $24.00 for both.

Just for good measure I'm going to do the distributor cap, rotor and plugs

Flush all the fluids out. Oil, tranny fluid, differential, power steering and brake fluid.

I can't see all this costing more than a few hundred dollars

Dude...that is amazing. Great pricing...
How about some motorsport springs? Give the front more of an aggressive stance?

Thanks... Once the important things are taken care of I will look at some minor upgrades....

Something I just realized, I don't know where to fill the windshield washer fluid from It works, but I can't recall seeing a filler neck in the engine bay... Anybody know?

When I get home I can listen for where it's pumping from.

The LX's were both quicker and faster than the GT's. I had a 1988 LX 302 hatchback in black/grey which I ordered - it took 13 weeks and 3 days to get it! One of the most reliable cars I have ever owned, more so that the Acura TL. The '88 models were the last year that Ford used the speed density system. In '89, they went mass air.

I ordered my '88 LX 302 with 3.08 gears which were the lowest available. Later I had a set of 3.55's installed. I also install Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers and left the four cats in place - super sound and no cracking.

Then an underdrive pulley set and a Hiper-Tech chip, JBA shorty headers and of course the very first thing was to remove the air silencer in the front right fender well. A K&N filter also went in place.

I removed the Hiper-Tech chip because I had to retard the initial timing to 8 degrees with it to avoid pinging. This really had a negative effect on throttle response for normal driving since I used to run it before the chip at 12 degrees. So I came up with something better that the chip and installed that.

Great car, loads of fun. I have a series of drag tests with progressively increasing mods in a magazine done to an '87. When they had done what I had done, they managed a 13.7 at 102 MPH.

I used to hate the foxes, but they've been steadily growing on me. I still don't like the trunk-style, but the hatches are nice. Especially done up right.

Which, unfortunately, that hood doesn't fall under that category. Get a cowl, and you'll be pimp.

Tonight was the first night I took it out, luckily the snow has held up and the roads have dried up. People would give me thumbs up... people wanted to race me (yeah buddy, I'm going to risk losing my car and license to race a GMC Canyon...), and people would stop and look at the car as it was parked in the Tim Hortons parking lot.

...and that's just the first night I had it out!...I certainly wasn't expecting the amount of attention this car gets.

It's also such a blast to drive. That 300ft. lbs. of torque in that little car is just fantastic. I can EASILY see why these cars are so popular.

Come on Summer!!!!!!!

I'll be honest; the hood is growing on me more and more. This is more what it loooks like in real life, rather than the other poorly lit, poorly angled shots.

This weekend was devoted to cleaning this car up. Getting rid of the ton of stupid audio cable that was ran across this car. The audio system is now back to 100% stock, including stock harness' for the radio, now I can do a slight audio upgrade and do it all properly.

Before:

After:

I was also pleased to see fairly new pads and rotors:

I love this car more each day

Nice pick up. My dad had one of those in the eighties when I was a kid. One day we were rolling down I285 in the Atl and I decided to play with the manual sunroof latch. Needless to say, don't open the sunroof at highway speeds!!

I knew a girl that had like the nicest Ford EXP you ever saw....black, last year they made em, all the factory ground F/X, etc. - anyway she had the same problem, the factory manual sunroof panel took flight on just a 40 MPH road and shattered behind her

As for the 5.0L, looks like a score! The hood does seem to "go" better in the second set of pics. It matches pretty well with the gaudy GT ground effects

I had a black 92 5.0 LX hatch I bought new, and more recently had a 90 5.0 LX convt., the "7-Up" Limited Edition (Deep Jewel Green with White top & leather). Fun cars - a little crude, but hey that's a big part of their charm.

I've also had 5.0's in two LSC's and a T-Bird.....nothing sounds quite as sweet as a 302 through Flowmasters

I love the fact it pops up, but also if you push the latch inwards it pops right out. I can see how that could be a problem if you weren't expecting that to happen

Wouldn't you know it, this car has a recently installed (not even a bit of corrosion on it) Flowmaster exhaust system. Nice chrome tips, and it sounds fantastic.

Find a totaled 03-04 Cobra and swap the motor and T56 into it. As long as you get the harness, it almost a direct bolt in replacement + a good tune.

My 03 put down 454hp and 474tq.

I had a 1987 Mustang LX Notchback in high school. I keep telling my wife that one of these days I'm going to pickup a car that looked just like it... except in convertible form. There is a pretty good Mustang presence around here... so it would be easy to find shows and stuff to go to. Maybe even enter it in the local parades

Anyway nice pickup! I'm a little torn on the hood. Some angles I like it.... other's I do not. I guess since you see it in person you have the best vantage point, so your call all the way .

New carpet kits for those cars are super-cheap, although that one looks like it cleaned up nicely.

DarkSith, no crazy under coating. Just oil sprayed yearly.

Thanks Juniorbean for the compliments...

Mirror, the carpet came out better than I had hoped. The carpets are stupid cheap like you mentioned so that might be something to look into in the future.

I went head unit shopping and didn't really see anything I liked. I don't like having a stock dash with a stupid aftermarket headunit in there. Looks cheap to me. I wish I could find a stock radio and modify it to have audio and USB inputs... Hmmm...

If I remember correctly, Cobra brakes from '06+ are a pretty easy swap and help a ton. Been a while, though (I had a 1997 Cobra new). Another easy mod is a shifter. I had a B&M Ripper and it was awesome. It is something you experience every time you drive the car.

Yeah looks like it was somebody's boom-box on wheels. I hate that shit now

Those rear hatch struts aren't cheap either. I replaced a pair of those on my 92 Talon and recall paying about $35 bucks apiece (totally worth it though).

Replacing the carpet and seats would be damn tempting too, but that gets spendy.

The hatch struts aren't too expensive actually; From Ford they are $18.00 each.

Do you need a set? I know I used to have a set of un-opened factory supports around here some place. I can't remember if I still have them. I could look if you want, and you can have them if I can find them.
