Bought a 06 BMW 325i

First time driving the E90 and I LOVE it.

Wow this car is a blast to drive. Who knew 215hp would have so much smooth power. I heard they run mid 14s in the 1/4 so i was curious on what they dynoed at... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7801 Not bad at all!

Anyways, i love everything about this car and it totaly drove much nicer than my Audi A4. BMWs are totally a different beast, even at the 325 trim.

BTW, i didnt buy it. My best friend did today, it was an 06 325i with sport package with a 6-speed. Had 15k miles so I talked them down to $28k. I thought it was an ok deal but there werent many E90 6-speed used out there. So we were limted.

Basicly point of the thread was that the 325 is a great car and not just for "people who want the name" anymore.

Heres the exact car he bought.

So, it's a nice-driving ugly car. Keep that in mind next time I'm in the market for ugly. Cool...

As many cars as I've gone through in the last few years, I'm still kicking myself for not getting a BMW right off the bat. I would take a 325 any day of the week. And that's a pretty decent price, no?

Maybe my next car...

On that note...of the Euro entry-lux sedans that are nice looking and good drives, I'd take Volvo, Saab, and even Audi before I consider BMW...esp. this current version. The previous gen? Love it.

No idea on price, its too new to find any info on it.

Saved about 6k from buying this used one instead of a new with the same options.

Dont be, the G35 is a great car! I was really impressed with that one and it drove great!

TSX handles well too.

I guess... But there's something about a BMW. I'll let the rugrat tear up the TSX and get my 545 in a few years.

That's the one thing I don't like about BMW's... I just can't get used to the idea of having run flats on a car....

6k off new for a 15K mile car seems ok to me...

That's probably something I'd be looking for in the next couple of years (maybe not a bmw, but something used)... I bought my last car w/ 14K miles on it, bought the CLS new...

I wont buy new again. Unless i lease.

Also i drove the S4 and have to say that i wasnt impressed. It didnt FEEL fast, only time you knew you were flying is when looking at the speedo. Felt really heavy also. Wasnt that much fun to tell you the truth. What was really weird that the steering was very loose compared to my A4. (gav mentioned this also before).

I had more fun driving the 325 than the S4.

The 325 has some impressive torque numbers...

Most people are wow'd by hp numbers, but when max hp is at 7000rpm, it's pretty much unusable...

I'd much rather have some useable torque... There's a reason a 325 is a mid 14 second car w/ "only" 215hp... it's makes some great low end torque...

Glad you liked the 325i. Tell your friend to buy a set of chrome exhaust tips for $60 bucks. I have been enjoying my 330i to a great extent; the E90 series drives great and has such a solid feel.

Don't forget to get the M shift knob. Makes shifting better.
Also, your friend might like the blackline tails.

My a4 is still kicking strong. I was worried about driving it hard when i got it back but i drove to all those dealers and it ran like a champ.

Its a keeper.

Side note, the Pontiac dealer off Golf rd wouldnt even let us drive the GTO untill they ran a credit check. I blew up when he said that....

Sounds like a fun ride.

While on the subject of the 335...I dont see how BMW believes this car isn't going to cannabalize m3 sales

meh, I'm more of a Koenigsegg man myself - looking to pick one up, but can't seem to find any dealers here in KY

As far as the 325i - I totally agree with Crazy Sellout - I drove one last year - a friend of mine purchased one and chose the option to pick it up from Germany. He said he had a blast driving it on the 'bahn.

I took it for a spin over here, and in typical BMW fashion it handled great yet had a great ride. Couldn't really push it to the limit, but hope to do so sometime soon. Oh, and there's no way that "detuned" 3.0l in the 325i is putting out "only 215hp" - I say BMW marketing Bsing here. The numbers for the 325i and 330i are way too close for the 325i to be down 40hp.

Btw, Crazy Sellout, your friend ordered the 325i just the way I like it - 6speed with the sport package Agree partially with you on the S4, i thought the engine was great, but the steering was WAY too overboosted.

Pics anyone?

The car needs a good detail. Its swirled up the ASS so i had to take pics of it in the shade. Dealer will have it detailed this week since they werent there on saturday.

It was 100 degrees out so i ran inside after this.

Also hes new to cars so i was going to show him how to check his oil. Well i was looking for the dip stick and there isnt one. So i look in the manual and I guess the oil levels are checked through the onboard computer. Shows the level of it there.

Not sure if i like that or not.

she wanted something fun but since she lives in the smokey mtns. she worried on the hills she'll roll back into someone like at a stop sign or stop light when she goes to take off with a "stick." so that kind of eliminated the Evo since you can only get a "stick" in it.
the M5 is kind of an automatic with the SMG. it's a clutchless shift.

congrats crazy sellout: the 3 series is a nice ride. however i'm not a fan of black cars. it seems like they show dirt easy. they look sweet with chrome though.

My summer palace is on the moon, so I need a rocket ship with an automatic transmission. It's a long way to the moon, so I'll need cruise control too. A "shift" transmission would not be good, in case I lose gear when I drop into a moon-hole or get distracted by a moon-bat.

hey it's not my fault she's always text messageing or talking on her mobile IM while driving and can't shift.
