Lame. AWD is a nice-to-have but it's not the answer to an idiot driver.
That especially goes for bad road conditions.

Are you being serious when you say that? If you are then you must believe like some others that a sports car should only be rwd!AWD has proved it's self and there is a reason why a large number of car manuf. use them.(I'm thinking of Lambo,Subaru,Audi etc...).That's really a surprising comment coming from a canadian with all the nasty slush we have in winter.I really wouldn't mind an RS4 to toss around

Oh BTW, I owned an Audi Quattro for 3 years. I have some years of experience with Subaru too.
On road, AWD is a commodity, nothing else.
On road, It doesn't allow to go faster, is not safer and affects the precision of steering. It is less predictable than a FWD and not as much fun as RWD.

AWD is great for ultimate rallying on sand or ice, saving tires in races, overhype for the rest (save the commodity aspect).

I agree, AWD is really just an expensive waste of weight. I live in the south and could care less about snow or ice (hasn't snowed here since 1988). In the dry RWD is almost always faster than AWD......
