LOL at the thread title change. Like most have said it depends on the model. I prefer more Audi's to BMWs but certain BMWs are just worthy. I saw the 6 Gran Coupe at dinner one night and it was breathtaking.

They both make world class cars in very similar if not exact categories.

How one can say the other is always better than the other is beyond stupid.

Agreed.

That's like saying "I only like Dove Chocolate" even though they may make the best Raspberry kind but may produce the worst white chocolate. It depends on the specifics.

It's all dependent on the model and I don't see how any car enthusiast can be shallow enough to just like one brand over another between all these different models.

I wonder how you or anyone else would think that just because someone picked BMW or Audi, they would never go with the other brand. Just because I voted for BMW and probably pick a BMW over Audi 7 times out of 10, doesn't mean I'd always go with BMW.

Sadly, there are people that blindly go with certain manufacturers and no others. It's not to say that everyone who picked BMW or Audi on this poll would do that, but there are people like that in the consumer market.

One need only look at this very board for examples of Honda/Acura loyalists who ignore the fact that the companies long ago abandoned many of the ingredients of the formula that made them special and interesting. When it comes to brands, as a consumer, loyalty for loyalty's sake is a fool's errand. You'll never be compensated by the companies for that loyalty; they'll just happily continue to take your money.

I always go with: Life is short, own as many different cars as you can.

How sad to live one's life only owning one brand, and never experience other makes.

It's like only eating Italian food your whole life, and nothing else.
Sure Italian tastes great, but so does all other types of food.

Expand your horizons.

Indeed. In my case, BMW held no attraction for me for a lot of years. Then, I decided to drive one once. That changed my mind. Now, I've had two.

Be honest now....the door "thunk" is what drew you in, and made you buy two in a row.

Actually, it was the placement of the AC vents relative to the nav display...and the aerodynamic mirrors.

Today I was in downtown Chicago and saw an absolutely stunning Audi and BMW. An RS5 and a 750XI with a beautiful set of HRE's.

See now, I think I'd rather have an S8 than a 7 (even an Alpina). That S8 has crazy performance and tremendous lux features.

Personally I like BMW more than Audi but they both make amazing cars. In all honesty, right now I'm loving my Lexus and would really place the new GS F-Sport up there with anything from Germany. It is that good. Here's a list of my current favorites from each manufacturer (in my price range):

BMW - 535i
Audi - S5
Mercedes - None of the above!
Lexus - GS 350 F-Sport (would love to see a GS-F)
Acura - TL SH-AWD
Infiniti - M37S
Hyundai - Genesis R-Spec
Cadillac - CTS
Buick - Regal GS

I'd basically take any of those cars and be over the moon about it!

Audi- RS5 w/ APR blower
Merc- C63 AMG Black
Lexus- Nothing
Acura- RLX
Infiniti- M56
Hyundai- Equis
Cadillac- CTS-V wagon
Buick- Nothing

I love em both. The new BMW's are starting to get really good with their quality material and interior. I would compare it to anything from Benz, Audi, and even Lexus to be honest. Before, not so much, I always thought of BMW's as more of a performance focused with little to no attention to interior quality.

I actually agree with this statement.. .and I never said one was always better then another. I try to not use absolutes. I didn't see anyone reply that either.

I was answering the more simple question posed in the title b/c honestly, I don't read much of what the OP posts too closely ( ). So I just went with the simple question... Audi guy or BMW guy.

Regardless of if I like models from BMW (or Mercedes, or whoever), of the luxury manufacturers, I'm an Audi guy. I'd choose that answer every time. But, based on the OP's post, I see where you're coming from... and I agree with it. Guess I should have read the original post first

He said the models he chose were within his price range. If your parents can afford to buy you a M6 or a C63 Black, why the hell are you driving a S5?

And for your Acura choice, you spelled NSX wrong.

This^ and I'd like to add other Jello-shot bar-talk comments. But I had that 7:30am Jello-shot and killed to many brain cells to waste my time on a good comeback for a 16yr old.

Just as a follow-on, MotorTrend compared the B7 and the S8: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...7/viewall.html

Cliffs: The S8 won.
