So......................

If you have a hook up at a shop I suppose you could inch by at around $1000. If you personally wanted it done, and went to a shop...we charge $125/hour and were cheap. I would estimate at least 8 solid hours. Not to sound like a know it all, but its what I have been doing for...at least 5 years. I price them daily.

If there is any sort of design, or print (vinyl only comes in white) add at least another $500-$1000.

$785 - Vinyl
$750 (avg) - Design
$1000 - 8 hrs, minimum.

(Plus overlam if theres a print or color other than white - add another $500 - $1000)

Cheaply and roughly, if you do it perfect the first time, which you never do.
$2535.
I know a few companies that due this, they all say it's about $1000-$1300

They aren't making any money off of them either. The material is almost a grand.

I've never repainted a car, so which is actually cheaper? This tape would be more like a respray right? as the engine and jambs still wouldn't match. I would think paint would be cheaper.

seems like a good idea if it were actually cheaper than a coat of paint, at least should be easier to change back once you get tired of it

#1) It looks nothing like paint. Its actually textured...its got a cross hatch patter in it.
#2) It doesnt just come off. Lots of cussing and heat guns are used.
#3) When a rock chips your paint, it chips. When a rock chips vinyl it scratches it enabling water and sand to get underneath, ultimately causing the vinyl to fail.

So can I. And you get what you pay for. For $1000 you will get a SHITTY ASS paint job. When I got rear ended I had my entire car re-painted. And the paint shop said it normally would cost in excess of $5K for the job he did. Add a couple grand to change the color.

this seems like a really bootleg thing to do to a nice car.

personally, i would be constantly worried about paint quality after removal. and the quality of the 3M in person would probably be horrific. you could also kiss detailing goodbye.

if i really wanted to spend $1000+ on labor, i would get a friggin paint job.

this mod seems like a ghetto wannabe conversion that people do on leased vehicles.

True. I suppose I could paint your car for the price of a few buckets of paint from Home Depot.

The movie "Jackel" had something similar... just that the car was "painted" with paint that could be washed off...
