OK....Just a question.....Where do you get your information? If you knew anything about the M1 then you would know that your statement is pure BS.

Rosen BMW has a white M1 that I see driving around the neighborhood once in a while. It used to be on their showroom floor at the Bala Cynwyd dealership.

Rare. Far less than 1000 built by Lamborghini for BMW IIRC. The body was drawn by famous Italian automobile designer Pinin Farina, so it's considered a highly collectable car even though it was not at all a popular seller.

Actually it wasnt Pininfarina that designed it...some other (very notable) Italian designer. (looked it up).

Anyway, interesting piece of history...

Guigiaro is my guess.

Yup. Giorgetto Guigiaro's Ital Design

455 cars built to be exact. The designer was Giorgetto Giugiaro, and the car was to be built by Lambo, but was instead built by Baur.

I'm sorry, but that car looks real dated. I'd rather have a 850csi

isnt that the one that lamborghini started right before they went bust for a while? and then BMW took it back to finish it up and never really became a hit seller because of it?

but because it was designed by those famous designers back in the day it became a huge collector item now? that design though.. is a timeless classic...

hey guys i wanted to know if ital design or something like that acutally exists. i remember in need for speed 1 or 2 there was a car by the name of ital design. i think that was the name. last time i played nfs was like ages ago but i foget the name. not sure if its called ital design. it looked like a silver bullet. have any of you guys seen it on road or as a show car? no one ever mentions that car. i dont even think that car is available to the public.

maybe instead of paying attention to the teacher he was playing NFS

But in case you don't know, ItalDesign is also known as Giugiaro spa, the Italian design house. I'm sure you notice Giugiaro mentioned above.

Not sure which ItalDesign car you mean since they designed so many. But many, if not most, including the BMW M1, had that distictive Giugiaro wedge design; sometimes it got to be too much for me, other ones I liked. Other than the M1 other examples of their designs:

the Aztec in 1988:

or the Aspid same year:

or the Ford Maya in 1984:

or the Delorean in 1981:

1974 Maserati by ItalDesign:

or the 1972 Maserati Merak:

or their 1972 Lotus Esprit:

or their 1969 Alfa Romea Iguana:

or 1968 Bizzarrini Manta:

The M1 is sick. I remember seeing a lot of posters of the race-prepped M1 when I was younger. For some reason they were so popular that the posters still stayed years after the car stopped production.... either that or people were too lazy to take them down.

Speaking of Italdesign and Need for Speed, my favorite Italdesign car ever is the Italdesign BMW Nazca C2. If I was a billionaire I would give them $100 million to build the C2 for me. Or maybe a successor to it...

I wonder why the engine needed to be rebuilt when it only had ~ 25K miles on it. I saw the same thing when I was looking at used air-cooled 911's & 911turbos a few years back. There were so many cars with 30-50K miles on the odometer that had their engines rebuilt.
