BMW M Power Tour(Pics-Lots of them...)

Went to the BMW M Power Tour today in Danville, CA. They had all the M cars/SUV's out and let us drive the M3(Coupe or Convertible) M-DCT on a 12 mile course around the area. All I can say is damn. M3 is everything and then some. I had only read about how they handled/performed and it was great to get confirmation how great the cars really are. I can see why so many people on here have picked up one. I got to drive a AW Coupe with CF roof.

On to the obligatory pics. . .

The engineer there was saying the X6 M and X5 M were faster throught the Ring than the E46 M3. I guess 555hp/500lb ft will do that.

Nope, I'm with you. My neighbor just picked one up in white. It's really the first time I got a chance to look at one up close. I can now officially say that I like it. Very sexy lines... especially in white.

Oh and swee pics.... looked like fun !!

I like the X6. Someone from my work drives a black one and it looks sick with those fat tires in the back. it just looks mean.

OP, you lucky bastard. I hate you so much right now and YES this is jealousy talking haha

The M-DCT was pretty amazing. Shifts were lighting quick and when the M mode was turned on it sounded like it was rev matching. I never thought I'd ever say I'd be hard pressed to pick a transmission since I always preferred manuals in the past.

Luckily traffic wasn't bad at all and the course lay out was on lots of back roads. I must have pulled over 5 times to do some 0-60 runs over the course of the 1/2 hour test drive. Speeds ranged from 25 (school zone) up to 75 in some of the back areas. I could tell there were people disengaging the traction control, because every stop sign had fresh burnout tracks. Unfortunately there were cops here and there so you have to watch out.

The steering wheel was perfect. Thick rimmed and all the controls right there. Although I wasn't used to the paddle shifters and kept high beaming other cars. Also took me a couple of minutes to get the M-DCT out of N into D. All in all if you can sign up, try to. I got a invite by email because I signed up on the bmw site. I've read others going to their dealers to get an invite because the dealers had some slots set aside for them.

god, one of my favorite cars just got better. i LOVE the X6. second fav. BMW to the new Z4.

the X6 has the same mentality as the FX - big, with balls, but yet still sleek and stylish. but the best thing is that the X6 is unique as hell.

Delivered this not long ago. Not that bad. Definately not a family SAV, but it's not as bad looking once you get use to it. Totally impractical (compared to an X5 though), but I did also get to take an X6 around the track at the BMW performance driving school. It blew me away at how it handled. The first few laps I was taking the turns cautiously knowing i'm driving with a higher center of gravity but it was handling like a champ the harder I drive it, all the way down to howling tires... Really impressive..

I was there this morning.

I was interested to see the X5M and X6M in person.

While the exterior looked great, the automatic only transmission is a turn off for me.

For those who are interested in signing up for the M tour. Find someone that belongs to BMWCCA. BMWCCA regional chapter were given some reservation spot to be given to the chapter member.

X6 is gross. I saw one in real life and it's worse in person.
The M3 GTR race car is to die for! I wonder if they'll ever get back into ALMS?

Nice. AND, I think the X6 is beautiful. I just wish it had a bit more utility; but then again, that's was the X5 is for.

Did they use a adding machine of M3 + X5 to get the X6 ? IMO it's pretty ugly ...

But @ M3 & M6 ...
