(In Lil' Jon voice): WHAAAT?!

These are the people who brought you:

1. Infinitely varable valve timing AND lift, eliminating the need for a throttle plate and its associated losses. People still don't realize how big this is.
2. Variable stiffness anti-roll bars.
3. The world's first direct injection V-12 engine.
4. Infinitely variable intake runner length (between 8 and 23 in!).
5. World's first 6-speed auto tranny.
6. First implementation of 1 throttle butterfly per cylinder (M5s) on a production car.
7. World's first 7-speed manual (kind of) tranny.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Other than not wanting to be left out, it just doesn't make sense for BMW to bother with the typical hybrids. Everywhere outside the US, they already have diesels that accompligh the same thing as hybrids - the milage gains.

BMW doesn't need to advertise those since the cars practically sells itself. Which makes me wonder why Budweiser bother's with their advertisements..
