BMW - Beemer or Bimmer?

I was curious as to which was the correct one. I did a search and this is what I came up with. Basically it says a BMW car is a BIMMER and a BMW motorcycle is a Beemer or Beamer.
Can anyone confirm this article? I feel awkward refering to a BMW (car) as a Bimmer as opposed to a Beemer.

It is pronounced BEAMER but the correct way to type it is 'Bimmer'

That's what I figured as well...but at the bottom of the article it states:

"If somebody calls your car a Beamer, you may want to correct them if you care at all about how foolish they appear to be... I mean I'm sure I would want to be told if i was confusing a car with a motorcycle or I had a sesame seed stuck between my front teeth or something."

Umm, BMW. The article seems like it is written for those who drive a BMW for the image. I personally, call my automobile a "BMW".
Just my opinion.

"bimmer" sounds like "B-M-er".....as in "Have you had a good B-M today?"

They are way over priced, IE: you can buy an Acura TL, with more power, better handeling, and more goodies for 10grand less. When you buy a 3seris or C-Class, you are many paying for the name(nothing too wrong with that). I have driven a 330ci, and it seems nice until you drive it, its kinda slow, navi sucks, and handeling takes a while to get used to.

I personally think, that the 3 doesn't deserve the BMW badge it wears. Now the 3seris coupe (330cia i think it is) and the M3 are a different story.

My dadwanted me to get a 3 for my first car, i told him HELL NO, he would be wasteing his money, he seriously thought, the 3 was a much better car than the TL. He still wants a 3 for himself

The 5, 6, 7 all have the power, performance, and lux. that you would expect when you buy a $50k - $80k car.

Correct, a Bimmer has four wheels and a Beamer has two. Most people use Bimmer to refer to the three series cars only but this may not be the practice nationwide.

hello! just thought is add my imput on the 3 series seeign as i own one...
There are small things about the 3 series i dont like, but other than that its an amzing car. it is a little under powered, but it sure as hell is quick! bmws really werent made for speed, everyone always says- blah blah, my car is much faster...yea, its faster in a straight line...point is my car will rock a ford stang gt on any curved roads...as far as head on racing we are dead even (stock vs stock). Id post pics of the car but most of u dont like how it looks lol. Godbless

First off, if you REALLY drove a 330ci before, you would know that the 330ci IS the 3 series coupe. The "330cia" just means the 330 coupe in auto. What exactly makes the 330ci better than the 330i anyway? They're basically the same car.

As for handling, almost anyone will tell you the 330 is a lot more surefooted than the TL. I've driven the TL-P, TL-S, and the 330i and the 330 is a lot more balanced than the TL.

And how do you figure the 330 to be slow? In auto, the 330 is quicker 0-60 than a 2nd generation TL-P, and in manual it's faster than the TL-S.

Agreed. I have a 2004 330i with the Performance Package that I bought about one month ago. I was VERY close to buying a 3rd gen TL, but after seriously test-driving the BMW I fell in love with the steering and handling. In my opinion, there was no competition. The TL's steering was too 'floaty'. The 330i feels secure and sure-footed. Love my lowered sport suspension; throaty purr from the engine, 18 inch wheels (with Michellin Sport tires), and the "M" trim.

Granted, the TL is roomier (for rear passengers) and has more gizmos; but for me, since I love to drive; the BMW 330i ZHP was all I needed.

You really have to love what you drive. My 330i ZHP with Xenons, Navigation system, and Alcantara interior was all I needed.

The 330i ZHP does 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.

Happy Drivin'
