Blurp about the '05 RL from the NY Auto Show

2005 Acura RL -- The current RL is a virtual non-entity in the luxury race, but Acura hopes to rectify that with an all-new version. As with last year's TL, the production RL on sale this fall will closely match the concept on stage in New York. Acura is touting its Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system, which distributes available power not just between front and rear but also left and right wheels. The RL also shows off Honda's new ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) structure that creates better crash alignment between tall SUVs and trucks, and also dissipates crash energy more effectively.

Bravo Acura,
Actually I like the current RL though.

It might not be a contender in its class but it is a nice looking car inside out.

I guess being a contender does matter when you wear a luxury badge.

I really hope Acura steps back up to the plate on the CL too.

With all these new things i'd imagine the base price is gonna have to be raised. Props to Hona/Acura for finally getting with it.

I think being a contender in today's market means being fresh and new, and the current RL isn't that even though it is a nicely packaged car.

Isn't it a 350hp (250 fwd - engine, 100 rwd - electric motor) or something similar? I think its still the 3.5 liter engine.

If only Acura kept the CLS 5AT and 6MT and reintroduced them with this new AWD system. IMHO, the CL would have taken off in the market place. Another Acura missed opportunity.

... Or maybe someone will come up with a way to retrofit our cars with this new AWD system. Wouldn't that be fantastic??? but probably impractical or not feasible.
