Bluetooth car kits

Anyone have any opinions or experiences with them? I am not looking for anything fancy, just a small unit with speaker, usually if I get a call I just put the phone on speaker but sitting it on my lap does not always make it easy to hear. I was looking at a few, they seem relatively cheap but a lot have bad reviews, stating that they do not connect easily or things of that nature.

So if anyone has heard good things or better yet had good experiences with any certain brands feel free to chime in. This is the one that I am leaning towards http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16875982214

I was also looking at this one, I recall hearing good things about parrot kits.

I was tempted by this, but I have a gps and do not use my phone that much to justify the cost. Now if it had a radar detector built in, I might bite.

That looks cool. I'd buy it if it had radar detector features.

Why don't you get a bluetooth headset? They'll work better than any car kit.

I bought a Parrot MiniKit Slim for my Santa Fe as I too do not like the headsets. I always lose them, they're uncomfortable and scream, "I'm a pompous douche!"

So far, I love this thing. It syncs up with your contacts and phone book automatically, has voice recognition and speaks with a British accent. I got it for about $80 at Fry's.

If my wife will ever stop losing her phones, I'll be in the market for something like that as well. Preferably, I'd like something solar and auto connect.

I disagree. A good quality BT is much better than a small ill fitting earpiece with crappy battery life.

My car comes stock with BT and its SO much better than an earpiece.

I just bought my wife a new pioneer headunit with BT built in and it works great. Her parents just a got new garmin with BT and it too works very well.

There are so many options available now.

Hope you like it. I had one when they were fairly new. I paid $100 for it then. I've since then gave it to my sister. Here is why I didn't like it.

1. I had to turn it on every time I got in the car
2. By it being FM Modulated the sound quality sucked
3. If I forgot to turn it off and my car was in the garage when my phone rang I could pick it up but couldn't hear anything because it was still paired to the T505, in my car.
4. It shut off constantly (power saving). So it was more difficult turning it back on then just using my handset while driving.

I liked mine in the beginning but when the novelty wore off that was it. As luck would have it shortly after I got a new car with BT in it. What a relief. It works great.

Those are legit reasons, and if you talk on your phone in the car a lot I can understand them. I however, do not talk very much while in the car, so this would just be an occasional thing. My car is stick and I really do not like handling the phone while driving now, when I had the CL(auto) I never really thought much of it.

1. Yeah you have to turn it on and off just like everything else.
2. I have no issues with the sound quality that it puts out after all it is a phone not a stereo....
3. did you like park your car in your living room? lol range for BT connection is pretty good at about 45 FT with both my BB 8120 and my LG KM900.
4. T505 does not have a power save per sae, it's that your phone was most likely turning off the BT after a certain time of inactivity. 30 mins after BT is lost the T505 will turn off....

I've got a motorola t305 and have no issues. Then again I don't use the phone in the car too much so I don't demand a lot of features. It does the job and was only like $20.
