Blown Speakers...

Hey I've been having problems with the sound system (rattling, etc.) in my 2000 Dodge Durango, and I'm pretty sure that I blew out the front speakers. I've never had stereo system issues before, and I don't know where to go from here.

I'm hesitant to take the door panels off and do it myself because I don't wanna open it up and then figure out that I'm missing something or I did something wrong. Any suggestions?

PS. I live in new york city, so if anyone around here knows a good place to go or can at least give me somewhere to start, I'd appreciate it.

-thanks.

take it to best buy, buy some speakers and have them installed for free. that is your best bet.

alright guys thanks for the help but best buy won't install them for free, they want $40 a pair, which bumps the job up 80 bucks and means I have to get cheaper speakers. Hopefully this thread gets bumped back up and someone sees this...
Does anyone know of anywhere in the NYC area that does free installation? or at least cheaper than best buy?

Also, if I did it myself, which doesn't look tooobad, is there anything specific I should know about speaker installations before I start?

www.crutchfield.com

They will have the correct speakers & give you all the wires, adapters, & even detailed instructions to replace them yourself.

I've used them many times. Just bought some front speakers for my suburban last week. They came with everything I needed to install.

it is not hard to take off your door panel. maybe search durango forums first, but honestly it's one of the easier things to do in a car. i can get the cl door panel off in ~5 mins.
