best sites to lookup used cars.

I am wondering what you guys think are the best sites to search for specific used cars. I just sold my POS talon, and am selling my Astrovan that I no longer use for work. I still have two other vehicles, a Blazer and a Ford Work van. Anyway, I am trying to get down to two vehicles, and am sick of only have trucks (the talon was not driveable for quite some time). So I am thinking about buying another S4, as it's been a few years since I had one. I have to stay within a certain budget so I would like to look in a wide area. I have used the normal sites like autotrader and cars.com. Are there some other really good sites I could browse?

cars.com and autotrader.com aren't bad. Most of the cars are from dealers though.

I'm up in the air about whether I want to go through a dealer or not. Can a warranty be purchased after purchasing through a private party?

I thought of that, but I used to be a member there and most of the cars are modded. I don't want a modded car, especially a turbo.

Surprised no one mentioned craigslist. You can organize it by city and state and everything

Yes, but you have to be real careful purchasing warranty's there are a lot of scam ones that have all sorts of unreasonable restrictions, make sure you read the fine print.

I'd really try to search around for the 'off the wall' website that aren't real well known. Some people may be skeptical when its dealing with a car, but I found my TSX (located at a dealership) on one of those website unknown to most and got about $6,500 off the cost of what a brand new one would be, and it was only six months old with 6,000 miles. Kelly Blue Blook estimated it to be worth three or four thousand more than what I bought it for.

I don't know. Just a thought. Keep your eyes open. Hope you find what you want!

+1

carmax.com does the trick too

not much of an ebay fan however if you do the search with a location you might find a few Gems out there that aren't listed anywhere else.

I used to think like that till i realized most car enthusiast treat their cars better than some 40 year old lady.

My A4 was MINT and well taken care of. Most of us assume we will keep cars forever during ownership. Course that never happens.

It really doesn't matter how nicely a car is treated. A modded car with a stock turbo = shortened turbo life. The cost involved to replace the turbos in an S4 are really high, so I want to be careful going into it.

Well I'm looking under $15,000. I have seen a few that would have worked, but I am always a day late or a dollar short. They just seem to get picked up really quickly in that price range. I am in Fairfield CT.

The difference between a 2.8 A6 vs a S4 is like going from an accord to an NSX. No thank you but good luck selling it.

The mileage can range. Any car can blow it's turbo, the higher mileage definitely the more likely. One reason I would like to get something with a warranty.

Did you read the ad? It's a custom Hybrid. Guess they convert it themselves. Still way, way, way overpriced.
