ya, it was kind of a joke - this is like, a drifting event. it ain't autox'ing. but I don't like autox'ing either, cones = bunk. take a few laps on a roadcourse.. you will never want to autox again.

It hasn't worked that way for me, I have averaged 500 or so miles a year on road courses over the last 15 years but still love to Auto-X. The cool thing about Auto-X is you can push the car to and even past the limit without fear of 10,000 dollar repair bills, try telling me that isn't in your mind in a $30/40/50/60K car at 160 mph on the back straight at Road Atlanta! Auto-Xing has consistently made my road course times better because of the time I get to spend exploring the limits of a particular chassis. Given the choice I agree I would rather be charging past the spiders at Barber or wondering how long I can delay braking past the bridge at Road Atlanta, but it is always good to drive a car with supreme anger legally!

Conversely, I have myself witnessed an RX-7 TT wreck at an Auto-X event - coming out of the slalom, he lost control and slammed head-on into a fence, resulting in major frontal damage. I even have it on video somewhere, I was taping at the time it happened. Need to find it... anyways my point is, there is a potential for damage no matter what you do - just have to be careful doing it.
but again I see your point about the place of Auto-X.... there is a place for it.

Trev, where did you get the video? I'm wondering what country that was in, Japan I'm assuming.
I like the S14, and the BOV is pretty entertaining.
I have a video of a friend at an autocross and all you hear is BOV, which it's actually pretty funny cause you hear it in parts of the course you wouldn't expect...
I just watched the Prelude video, nice ground-effects-rubbing-asphault sound, hehe..
That's interesting how it's run sort of like an Autocross though, you can see in the Prelude video where they stopped(red flagged) the next guy from coming down the course, while they waited for the Prelude to finish. Thinking about it, I guess that's in just about all kinds of racing (corner working)....
