Audi scraps 265HP TT but a 245HP version might arrive in Spring

The Audi TT could become even hotter if a proposed 245bhp version gets the go-ahead.

The idea is still being considered, but insiders say the beefier TT could be in showrooms by the spring.

The car, which would replace the current 225bhp range-topper, would be powered by a bored-out version of its engine, increasing capacity from 1.8 to 2.0 litres.

If the 245bhp model gets the green light it will be the most powerful TT for some time to come, as plans for a 265bhp version, initially slated for October 2002, have been scrapped.

What's the specs on the current TT and what's the specs on the future ones? What will the new one do 0-60mph? Has anyone upgraded turbos on the TT yet?

Haha the front plate says t68 AFC...what if they made it with a single t68 along with an AFC, that thing would fly.

The specs on current TTs are 180Hp or 225HP from the same 1.8 liter turbo 4 (with different accessories to make more power).

No one knows what the new one will do for the 0-60 because it is not 100% for sure that it will be available to us in 2002. If it will be though, I am expecting a slight decrease in 0-60 times. THe biggest gain in my opinion will be in driveability because of the 200cc increase in displacement. That will result in more low and mid rpm range torque which will make the car more enjoyable to drive hopefully.

0-60 I expect in the mid to low 6s as the car is pretty heavy.

I assume the T68 refers to the turbocharger and the AFC to the Fuel Controller right KC?

No I don't think that is what the plate means literally. I was just saying that's what it could mean and it would be funny if it was for real. That's what I meant though.
As you see a T68 is too big of a turbo for that car plus they wouldn't offer and AFC in the car for people to fool with. Get what I'm saying?

T68 matches Garrett turbo nomenclature correct? If so the a T68 would be way to big of a turbo for a 2 liter engine...

Yeah I see. I did doubt the AFC piece being on the car but I was not aware how big the T68 unit is. I am sure though that TT turbos are pretty small because that is how they achieve the lag-less feeling with Audis.

I wish they did not scrap plans for the TT-S version with the 265HP and special suspension. THe car was thought as to go against the Boxster S. I know it would have been faster than the S.

I still rather take the Porsche Boxster S. Much more of a "glorified engine." Yes the T68 is up in size. The public turbos range usually like 57,60,63,66,72,76,78,88 and so on.

I dont know, I just dont think that 225 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm is anything to brag about from 3.2 liters in a Porsche designated "S". Our engine makes 232 pounds at 3500 rpm(supposedly).
