Attention G35 owners and former owners

I am thinking of getting rid of my 04 TSX and picking up a G35c 6MT and was wondering if anyone regrets getting one? I like the TSX, but its not fast enough(I knew it was slow when I bought it, but now its starting to bother me). Any comments good or bad? I drove a G35 sedan when I got the TSX and didn't like the interior, but it has improved since. I have two friends who have auto G35 sedans and I have driven them both and they are nice cars, with more power and a 6 speed it should be a blast! One of my friends has 75k miles on his already and its holding up well, so that is good news.

Also are there any forums about these cars? other then the infinitiowners.com(the one through the infiniti website, what ever its name is).

Yeah, see if you can take a 24 hour test drive. That guy that had the thread about the seat problems seemed to have been in a lot of pain.

Seriously...I loved my coupe, but the wifey was scared of the RWD in snow...so she got a G35X...so, she still absolutely loved the car & still does.

I loved it too...but my gas bill each month was a lot larger than with the CLS.

I hear that the G35 fuel economy is much worse than the TL. Are you confirming this?

fuel econ is not the strength of the VQ, but they are not way too bad compare to the Honda J-series VTEC

they are about 10-15% worse than our TL due to engine design (DOHC) and larger displacement (3.5L)

I seriously contemplated getting the G35 recently, but I went for a test drive and was less than thrilled with the interior. It still feels cheap to me. Plus, they had broken seats and stuff on a brand new car which doesn't exactly make a case for quality.

Still, the coupe is a stunning looking car on the outside and the motor is certainly a nice touch, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy the interior on those cars.

Get the G35... get it out of your system. Worse comes to worse, if you don't like it, trade it for another ride... It's not much different as your audio gear

If you get the G35, definitely get it new. The new 06 comes with bluetooth, 298hp (in 6-speed), and rear active steering as an option. I absolutely love my coupe...it is really the best car i've owned in terms of driving experience. The car drives like its on rails and its very stout mechanically.

The best forum out there is www.g35driver.com for the g35. do some research there and you'll find that almost everyone loves their car there.

well if its anything like the Z.. i dont know.

ive had so many problem with it, i had it for about 3000 miles and the thing just caused problems after problems.

after three days of driving, there was massive brake squeal. then brake dust would cover up the front rims within hours after a car wash. while driving at high way speeds, the damn window keeps coming down. you know how coupes dont have that extra frame over the windows? yeah, basicly when you open the door, the actual glass slides down a good centimeter. then goes back up when closed. mine wouldnt go back up. plus the window grease smudges that streaks down the inside of the window.

i had the warranty take care of that. they replaced the motor inside the door panel, i had them replace all four brake pads, plus get that damn rattling hatch (which you dont have to worry about in the G35c) to stop rattling.

if you check up on the Z/G35 forums, there will be a list of complaints on them. some have them and some dont. Z's been nicknamed "the rattlebox". hahahaha yeah. but im glad i sold it back and got my money back. yeah it was fun while i had it and yea i did lose money because of it, but hey, it was worth having for the time being. good luck with yours though. hopefully it wont end up like mine...

Someone brought up a good point, winter is right around the corner up here, perhaps I would be better suited just to wait to spring.

If they would just put 6MT in the M35 or M45 I would get that in a heart beat, but not with the 5 speed automatic that they are using now.

One of my good friends has a 350z and loves it, he hasn't had any problems outside of maintanance with it.

I was planning on getting an S2000 and keeping the TSX, but after a test drive the S2k left me wanting a lot more - in many ways it felt similar to the TSX. I would really like to get an Atom or Elise and keep the TSX, but that's just not doable right now. As where the G35c 6MT is roughly $36k the way I want it, and my TSX will be worth $24k(roughly) in spring, I put a lot down on the TSX so this would be an easy move, with under $5k down I could get a brand new car while keeping my payments the same(just resetting back to 60 months of payments due).

Thanks for all of your comments so far, could someone post a link to the back problem thread? I looked and couldn't find it.

the back problem on the G can be fixed by physically bending a peice of metal on the right side of the seat(by the seat control). It sounded simple enough.

The G35c was a fantastic car. I miss it quite a bit.

BTW... I still have my 17" winter rims and tires sitting in the garage. They'll eventually go up for sale. If you want them, let me know and we can try to work something out.

You definitely had a lemon. My Z has had it's fair share of problems, but they were over time, but not all sudden like your problems. Suprisingly though, my Z rattles very little.

In regards to fuel ecomony, I can't speak for the G35, but I get better fuel ecomony in my Z than my old CLS and my friend who traded in his Z for a 6-speed 2005 TL also stated he got better fuel economy in the Z. The VQ is very efficient on the highway (I get close to 30 mpg on the highway if I drive normally)

get it!!! u would love it...

Z is " rattle box" not because the quality of the car.. it is because it is a STIFF sports cars ( the car is bouncy) .... CLS is a rattle box where it sounded like it s gonna fall apart.
shit wait till u sit in my S2k... that shit rattles like i just wanna pull the top down and jump out the car and i only have 1000 miles on it.

G35 is much better than Z in terms of comfort and i get around 260 miles with a full tank (18" rims) in my CLS and around 300 with G (19" rims) but G has a bigger gas tank so they have about the same MPG

I heard rumor that intelligent key is going to be coming in the G35's soon, does anyone know anything about this? That is a very handy and cool feature to me.

I am not concerned with fuel prices, even as prices are increasing. Its not like I am going to drive an SUV! I get between 20-30 mpg now and I will be going down to 19-26(at least that's what infiniti says) with a G35c 6MT, but gaining roughly 100hp. While over time it will add up, its still a whole let less then even insurance on another car, let alone maintnance, purchase cost, etc...

Over at G35driver its much like the CL, TL, RL and TSX sections here, there is praise and complaints - to date no manufacturer builds a perfect car and even if you could you still can not please everyone!

They already have it for '05. The demo I drove had it and the COOL factor is big. Just leave the "key" in your pocket adn the door is unlocked as you approach. You can't lock it inside the vehicle, and you can start and drive the car while the fob is in your pocket. pretty neat.

The sedan had the the option but the 05 G35C didn't have the intelligent key. I would have taken the option if it was available but it wasn't.

I get 20mpg consistently and I do about 75/25% highway/city. I think someone has a lead foot here

I'd love a GTO too, but I'm not sure the fuel economy is better. Also, you'd give up a bunch of luxury to drive the Goat: lesser warranty, less content, less resale value.

Anyways...

Nissan and Infiniti use negative camber to improve handleling... this in turn eats up tires...

Overall a crappy ride, gas mileage was crappy, like 13 miles gallon... I would look into the BMW's, they take care of all maintenance for the first 4 years... THis includes everything except tires, for the little price difference, you will save in maintenance for a better car imo...

What The Sarlacc is talking about is my experience with infiniti, I got treated like crap and I developed back problems from the seats...

INstead of taking info from Acura guys, go get the info from a real source...

G35driver.com

search under seats or tires... or pain problems with there cheap thin paint chipping

If you really want to know how a car is doing, check how many used one you can get like you want, it's a fairly new car so there should not be that many used period...

Funny...I'm a lead foot and got over 16 MPH. Maybe you had a hole in the tank.

Or you agravated an existing or previous condition with the stiff seating. And if the dealer sucks...that's not necessarily an Infiniti issue, more like management issue or you being unable to walk away from the table.

The people responding in this thread are/were OWNERS of this vehicle...and most longer than 3 WEEKS like you. They know of what they speak, no different than on G35driver(which I am a member).

I drove mine for 6 months, no problems ~ of ANY sort...and I drove the fuck out of that car & loved it. Sold it & bought a G35X...driving the fuck out of that car too & loving it. Seats have better support in that car than my Acura.

Suck it up & move on before you get flamed again.

He really got no love everywhere he posted. The seats are such a non-issue most G35 drivers just ignored the post. I've had my car for over a year and the G35 is as comfortable as previous sedans i've owned (which included the maxima and camry) which says a lot about comfort.
