I was actually thinking of replaceing the CLs with a 2005 GTO. Now, I doubt it. Gas prices are not going down anytime soon. I would have hated to be on of those unlucky bastards waiting for one of those on that train though.

I think the GM executives secretly derailed this train.
Their insurance will now pay off 100% value of each car instead of having to discount them 10,000-dollars when their sitting in the lot 8-Months from now.

Smart move actually.

BTW….

guess what..... and I might be one of the ones buying one for a discount like that. By that time my beater will be paid for.

The goat actually doesnt do bad on gas if you can keep your foot out of it! I, for one, wouldnt be able to do that though! LS1's make a sweet sound on full boil!

true but the LS1 does require premium and it has an 18 gallon tank, your talking over 40 bucks per fill up. I dont know about you but 18-26mpg does sound all that great now.

GTO gets better mileage then your CL, independent reports are saying mid 20's. Hell the vettes are getting 30+

My Z gets an average of 20-22 with me in the throttle A LOT!! However, when I am on the highway, and cruising at 80, I can get upwards of 30!!

MPG (city)
16

MPG (highway)
21

Is what I found, but I can tell you, this is true. Esp w/ the 1-4 upshift control they have. I've personally witnessed over 30+ mpg in our vette more then once. I have also read on LS1.com of guy getting mid to high 20's out of the GTO, the search engine isn't working though

And with that, what do you get in your CL? Low 20's?

On a trip down to Fort Myers going close to 80 mph I was pleasantly suprised with 28mpg.

That is a far cry from 21 with the GTO

I drove a C6 Vette the other day and in 6th gear at 80MPH the RPM’s were only at around 1,400.
Quite amazing for a 400HP monster. YA gotta love technology.

very true about the C6 vette...whenever my dad lets me take it out, I've noticed that the RPM's stay REALLY low a majority of the time. It actually gets pretty good gas mileage if you don't beat up on it too much, but when you're lettin' her rip, forget about it.

The LS1 and LS2 get excellent fuel economy on the highway. High 20's are very common

You gotta think, it doesn't need to turn high rpms while moving around town, and the 1-4 upshift on the manuals is a big plus

have you driven a GTO at 80 mph? It's probably running lower RPMS' the the CL is. to say the GTO only gets 21 is moot because you haven't done the same comparison. What were the EPA stats on the CL

EPA MPG for the CL is
MPG (city) 19
MPG (highway) 29

EPA MPG GTO is
MPG (city) 16
MPG (highway) 21

Thats a SIZABLE Difference. Also, I did not have to pay a Gaz Guzzler Tax on my CLS...but you will on the GTO.

I'm just telling you what to expect. EPA shit is crap

Go drive one, see what you get, go look at what they are getting on the GTO forums. Look at what the vette gets then look that it's the same drivetrain

2900 rpm at 85 on the RL? My 4spd Accord V6 does 2800 on the dot at 85mph. That's really weird gearing?

not sure if its the same motor, prob not, the rl is 3.5 and i am guesssing the accord is prob 3.0 or 3.2, not much diff. but enough

Yeah the Accord is a 3.0. My point is that how could a bigger engine with more power and more gears need more rpm to hit the same speed of the Accord. I guess the gearing is really weird. I was expecting a car like the RL to focus on some economy at top gear. Must be the same thinking with the TSX. For whatever reason 6th gear on the MT is at a higher rpm than 5th gear on the AT.
