The article was alright until it was talking about the competitors for the GTO, and it listed the CL as one. When they talk about competitiors for a new model dont they have to still be in production?

I didn't read this Autoweek. However I'm not calling you a liar but this doesn't make sense. because the new GTO is rated at 400 HP.(it's basically the new C6 vette's non Z06 motor). RWD how will even against a 03 6 speed 260 hp CL. even with a Superchager,CAI,headers and exhaust. I think the stock GTO would leave a CL modded ( the mods said above) in the dust. I'm not making fun of the CL. it's a nice car. but the CL is not a competitor.

I'd say a M3 would be a better competitor. I watched an 03 GTO (350 hp verision 6 speed) against a e46 body style M3 it was a pretty even fight. the M3 edged him out in a drag. they were both stock. but since both the M3 (as of 06 E90 bodystyle) got more power and the GTO got more power(400 hp) I think it will be a good fight again.

Price wise, it makes sense. The CL was within a few grand of the price of the GTO.
