Anyone know anything about the Lexus is250/is350?
Hey everyone
Was wondering does anyone own an is250/is350. I've noticed they've droped in price for the 06 and some of the 07 models. I was looking at the smaller is250 since there going for as low as $22,000 and around $26,000.
Any problems with car for the 06 models and 07 models?
And Yes I know the website my.is its just hard to find any info their its so unorganized unlike Azine

Never driven the IS350, but the power of the IS250 is incredibly underwhelming.
I think they're attractive cars, the handle pretty well and I haven't heard of any reliability problems...it is a Lexus after all.

Why not an 06 325i? They're right around that 22-26K mark right now. Not knocking Lexus, it's a good brand. But I find the IS to be a bit of a yawn.

I test drove the IS350 and it had decent power with a comfty ride but it understeers like most mainstream cars for safety. Its fast but a blancmange, mangia cake, milquetoast car.
We were also unimpressed with the interior and it felt cramped because the dash was too close. Overall the car (as are most in this class) is just too small except for urban DINKS like my neighbor who don't even have the obligatory surrogate cat/dog.
So if you don't have kids then get a coupe/hatchback. If you do, then don't stunt their growth and get a real sedan.

I hate to agree with Fishy but I was left a little unimpressed after driving a IS350 @ Carmax. Its a FAST car, don't get me wrong...everything else about it was a letdown though. The steering feel was horrid, brakes felt worse than my TL's, obscene amount of bodyroll and it felt too floaty at high speeds. For that kind of cheese, i'd just get a used 330/G/or TL and call it a day.

He's likely single income/no kids, and small is good in San Fran, but I agree overall. Check out a hatch - unless of course you're not fond of that look.

the back is a little small. my parents have a 250. I managed to fit 3 people in the back, but only for like a 5 minute ride, and they couldn't wait to get out.
I remember getting in it at first and being unimpressed. The visibility isn't that great, and it did feel a bit cramped........ but I guess that is coming from someone driving an xB which has a ton of headroom and feels like you're driving an aquarium.
I got to drive it a lot more more recently, and it started growing on me once I got used to it. I like how it definitely feels more luxurious than your typical toyota, and it has pretty small exterior dimensions making it not too hard to dart through traffic. I didn't find it to feel underpowered, but again, that is coming from someone who is used to 100hp. I never really tried to push it, cause I've crashed enough of my parent's cars back in the day.

Safety Car
250 and 350 are different cars completely. test drive them both.
family has a 250AWD, its FAR from exciting. it has the same get up and go as a SUV. however, its a nice car all around the cash.

I've never thought they were very interesting but I never have driven either one. I get the impression either would be boring/not really a driver's car. Just the fact they never offered an manual gearbox with the 350 should be a pretty clear indication of which kind of drivers they're *not* catering to.
The original IS300 with the manual has occured to me it could be a great 2nd hand bargain for someone looking for a little Lexus style though.

I drove an Is350 and liked it overall. It has a very small backseat for a sedan and the power was stunted a bit by the slushbox but the interior is very nice and I have always loved the exterior styling. I wouldn't touch a 250 though (very tepid engine)....

I actually drove my uncles for 3 days and boy it was lovely. Got comments here and there about the car even though it wasn't mine. I was driving the 06 pearl white is250 and it is pretty slow to me but I love the handling, comfort, and the luxury style of it. I want one also!

test drove a 250 awd while I was shopping around for a car last summer. I was coming from a 98 camry, so the IS was definitely a lot faster and nicer. I did like the quality and comfort (to be expected for a lexus). Overall, I liked the car, but it was too small for my tastes.

Thanks everyone I went out to test drive the is250 it was alright I felt my old e46 had more get up and go even the TSX felt faster. Anyways I test drove the 330i I like it but I don't want to deal with bmw maintenance until I'm older.
So I found what I think is a good deal $19K for a 07 tsx Cgp/ebony NAV 5AT 18k miles clean title owner has it kept in garage right now. Just going to get a pre-purchase inspection at a dealer and hope its all good as it seems like it is.
