anyone have experience with Yoko AVS ES100 tires?

i came across a great deal on a set of these in 235/40/18 for my Audi. havent purchased yet but im heavily considering it as the tires i have now are absolute shit. i will never buy khumos again as long as i live. SUPER noisey, damn things sound like a 4x4 with mudder tires on it. and the wear is absolutely horrible. of course, these tires came with my rims so im sure the previous owner has alot to do with their current condition buy my god, are the khumo ecsta 712's loud and cheap.

They are a summer ONLY tire, so even with AWD (do you have AWD?) you'll be all over the place in the winter.

With that said... You get what you pay for. I've heard these tires get very loud as they wear. They're not as grippy as its competition; S0-3s and Pilot sports.

And with that said... I'm considering getting them when my Pilots wear out. I don't drive my car THAT hard, so grippiness isn't really that big of a need. And noise, well... I'll deal with it. I'ts hard to beat the price.

However, I have a set of dedicated snow tires. I wouldn't be caught dead with these on my car with the white stuff.

Here's the info from Tirerack... The reviews are what I find helpful.

A couple of Audi reviews...

2000 AUDI A4Q 1.8T

Miles driven on tires: 25,000
Reviewer's Overall Ratings: 6.62

Location: WEST NEWTON, MA

Driving Condition: Combined Highway/City
Driving Style: Spirited

These tires hunt every rut in the road. So highway driving on well-worn roads becomes tiresome. -- Review Submitted 2004-06-10

2002 AUDI A4 1.8T QUAT SPT PKG

Miles driven on tires: 8,000
Reviewer's Overall Ratings: 8.75

Location: VERONA, KY

Driving Condition: Mostly Highway
Driving Style: Spirited

Good solid street tire. Progressive breakaway with little noise. Limits are not that high, but this is expected in a street tire. Overall a very good tire at a great price. An easy winner when factoring in price. -- Review Submitted 2004-05-20

I'm 100% confident these tires are better than the Khumos'... Not a doubt in my mind.

For $450, you can't go wrong! Are you sure they're new? Never had a nail in them? That sounds like a hell of a deal.

I have them. They are great tires but they wear quickly if you drive hard like me.

I'm on my second set of ES100's, burned up the first set in 9k miles. I've been very happy with them when price was considered. They did get louder with wear but nothing like the Kumho's. But the performance versus price is what is this tire's biggest selling point.

1 thing, the Kumhos IMO are better in the Wet. Otherwise, the ES 100s are better than the Kumhos. Also looks, the Kumhos have a very square design, the ES 100s have a nice round sidewall.
Can't beat the price. I think they are now factory on the TL.

If you are going to buy a summer only tire, why not get Kuhmo MX's. They are a much better performing tire wet and dry.

I've been running the ES 100's for about 5000 miles and I havn't had any problems. They do tend to track ruts in the road at highway speed but I don't even notice it anymore.
