i saw the i-robot car at the Audi museum last fall. i think they made 3 cars for the movie. 1 drivable, 1 rolling chassis, and one crash car. the placard was in cherman and mein duetsch ist scheisse. i wish i remember the specs of the driveable one. it looked pretty cool on the inside.
couple pics i snapped:

Good for you.

I just found it odd that the movie came out 4 years before the car.

I wouldn't put it past many manufacturers to have longer development times for many of their models.

Wasn't it one of merc's commercials where they said that the new C-class was in development for some 8 years or some shyt like that?

Why would you find that odd? There are a lot of movies which contain prototypes or concept cars. Look at a movie like Demolition Man. Most of the concepts used in that movie will never see production. Even Transformers did this recently with the Camaro and a few others...

The LeMans Quattro came out in 2003. The RSQ in 2004.

The RSQ is based on the LMQ/R8 not the other way around.

one of my favorite "movie car" that became a real car was the Mercedes in Strange Days. The movie came out in '95, they shot it in '94. In the movie, the protagonist drives a '97 MB S-class which was a generation ahead of the 95s.
Fast forward three years, and guess what, the S-class looks just like the one in the movie

Most of those cars had been developed and shown up in mags or whatever as the next generation.

To me, it just seemed the R8 evolved from this fictitious model in the movie.

Just my observations.

*sigh*

Audi Le Mans Quattro in 2003

Audi R8 in 2007

The Audi RSQ from the movie "I, Robot" which was released in 2004 had nothing to do with the development of the R8.
