The thing is since my car has 275,000 miles on it I've been looking around at cars that is both "fun"(as far as like 0-60 and decent handling) and practical due to fuel prices.
I know your saying the Accord v-6 Hybird but i'm not wild about electric. plus I believe electric is just a trend we'll end up going diesel.(if you look across Europe most of it's Diesel)
now back to my point:the CDI is a perfect blend for me the "get up and go" of a S2000 and mileage of a Civic.
plus my other lux cars(like Acura,Benz,Lexus,BMW,etc) require at least mid grade fuel (some require 91) with diesel their is just one grade of road diesel. around here road diesel is compareable to 87
plus I feel even though the E-class hasn't changed it's style in awhile (about 4 years i believe) it's still one of the hottest cars on the road

I have. That's the E320 CDi. Two years ago in Frankfurt. It was a taxi that took us to the airport from the Marriott downtown Frankfurt. It felt awsome, the truk was the largest I had seen back then and you could tell how awsome it is to have the huge torque of the diesel under your foot. Never went above 3K rpm on the autobahn and did 120 mph, three people with 6 pieces of luggage.

I drove an E270 in Germany, which is slightly less powerful than the 300/320, and it was NICE. Just like was said above, very quiet - not noisy at all. You have to get used to the constant power delivery of them, they don't exactly feel like most of the cars we are used to. Keep in mind they will still EASILY drink fuel if you like to get up on it alot.
If you are looking for used, I believe you are only going to find the older style (up to 1999) E300TD in the States tho. It does look dated compared to the newer style. The interiors are still wonderful. I believe the E320 CDi was introduced as an 05 model year in the States. Chances of a used one are slim, and if you find one - expect to pay over $45K easy.

How many times do we have to hear about your damned accord having 275,000 miles.
put it in your sig and shut up about it.
I swear if you talk like you type people must want to strangle you.

Come late next year I think you'll have more diesel choices - the combination of the cleaner diesel and more models should make for nice cars being available.
E class diesels as taxis with 300K or more on the odo is normal around here.

I also drove it at the Love Mercedes tour when it was in town. I actually drove both the diesel and non diesel. Both were awesome but I did notice a short delay in the diesel version. It would take a bit longer for the engine to kick in as opposed to the non diesel version. Other than that everything else was

This might sound like an odd question but does any one know of a car similar or about to this qualifications:
0-60 time: 7 seconds
pull mid 15's in the 1/4
mileage: 25-30 m p g
sedan
must run on 87 or diesel(mid grade and high grade is too high in price
)
also must do decent in corners: like .80 g on the skid pad or better.
the only one i can think of is the E320 CDI to meet my qualifications

With an average weekly fill up of 14 gallons, with the average price of premium grade $0.20 higher than basic, you'll only spend ~$73 difference in price anually. Not enough to even bitch about.
The thing about diesel is the gas mileage. Here, diesel is about the same price as premium. At 40mpg tho, you'll save 25%+ over a gasoline car of the same performance.
Are you going to buy a new E320 CDI? If not, you are going to be looking at the E300TD which isn't quite as impressive as the other.

I thought the difference between prem and basic gas was more than that per year. I drive 25-30 k a year. I thought something wild like 1000-2000 bucks. at 25k a year with 22 m p g (average) it's only 225 more bucks.Plus diesels (since I love in Ohio's cold winters) are a bear sometimes to start in the winter. you gotta either leave them running if your just running like in for a cup or coffee or something small or plug in a block heater.
plus diesel mechanic rates are INSANE.

Performance: Again, kinda treading on loose ground, cant recall to well, but i think that they (either C&D or MT) hustled a 6sp TSX to 60 in around 6.8 seconds. A 6sp TSX would prove for some good times - would easily double the "fun" factor. The E320CDI sould only be available as an auto.
Corners: TSX owners say that their cars "own" the corners. An E320CDI, could probably not match a TSX on the skidpad or slalom.
$$$: Now thats why your considering diesel right. You would probably save around 20k on a TSX vs the E320. Of course, the TSX is a smaller car, and MAY have less features, but savin 20k is pretty appealing to.
Just my two cents. Hope this helps.
EDIT: Damn, forget about the 87 octane part. Though, like someone above said, it probably wont make a huge difference.
