Anybody know about 1992 Toyota Corollas?
I have been looking for a beater car to drive for the rest of the summer and to not put so many miles on my TL. I have found a blue 5sp corolla that is in good-great shape. no rust ,few scratches, runs great, interior is clean. 150,xxx miles. i have got the price down to 1250. I think this is a pretty good deal, but i was wondering if anybody has a older corolla and are their any problems i need to look for. i wouldnt think that there are many considering the type of car. thanks

By the time you spend the 1250 on the car, insure it and maintain it are you really saving anything from putting miles on your TL?
That aside a 92 corolla is a near bullet proof car, I see them frequently with well over 200k miles on them and no major problems getting there. They typically rot away before they have any major problems, pay close attention to the rocker panels, that's the first place serious rot sets in. The problem is, its arguably the most generic car in America, in particular if its white.

They're solid... if not uninspiring transportation..
Good on gas though and should last forever. I know COMPLETE morons who dont do maintainence and still manage to put a few hundred thousand miles on these cars.

my dad had a 92 corolla DX he bought new in 92, got rid of it in 2002 with 198,000 miles on it. NEVER had problems with it. He only traded it because he was just sick of the car. It still ran perfectly. He got 500 on a trade in in 2002. I would offer the guy 750, then meet him in the middle at a grand. But its a solid car. If you can avoid Rust, it will run forever.
