I change my Mobil 1 Synthetic every 10k.

Right on !
Using Synthetic for only 5K or less is like washing you feet with Poland Spring, lol.

So the diff is ONLY a puny 1,500 more miles for synthetics - and this makes sense to you ?

Saab recommended 5k for regular for the '99 9-3 that I used to drive.

VW recommends 5k for regular for my g/f's '03 Jetta 1.8T.

10k synthetic....MINIMUM.....i feel safe letting it go to 15k. Amsoil full syn with a super duty filter. I do 80% highway so no need to get rid of the oil prematurely.

Guys...

the deal with the syn I got let's me change the oil every 5k and that is also what Toyota recommends on their sked. I am not going to tell them I'll change it every 10K. Besides, I do have the 100k warranty that I have to keep up the maintenance with.

What's cool with Toyota is you get synthetic oil change for life for $500 (4 changes a year).

Woot!
The Camry is not my first choice but not at all a bad choice. I have to admit that what it tends to lack in performance, it more than makes up in reliability.

Who knew some of us weren't getting reliability with the CL-S.

I barely drive it anymore, though. I think I've put about five hundred miles on it in the last three months. New place, new job...public transportation.

Same here with my Maxima. I use public transit regularly (to/from work), which is probably why it's been as reliable as it has.

If I needed a reliable daily driver (high mileage), I'd probably have purchased the Camry over my Maxima. When I commuted daily in my new 99 Accord, the tranny went bad shortly before my 3rd year of ownership.

Really ticks me off about Honda & Acura cars as I'd be the first to admit that they are much sportier cars than the Toyota/Lexus cars. I was reading the newspapers about the 10 best brands with least complaints and both Lexus & Toyota made it. Honda and Acura did not make it.

I guess, in time, when they lose more sales they may change their way. Currently, I think that is what is happening to Harley Davidson. The 05s are apparently not selling as well.

I wouldn't put to much faith in reliability with Camry's particularly when it comes to the 3.0L V6, which many have had engine oil gelling/sludge problems. Dunno if they fixed that problem with the new 3.3L V6.

I've been meaning to ask this for awhile, but keep forgetting...

How did you manage to have tranny #1 go at 38k and tranny #2 go before #1 @ 27k...

Shouldn't it be #1 (27k), #2 (38k) ???

Maybe I'm just losing it

No. It took me a while to figure it out too. Tranny 1 lasted 38k. Tranny 2 lasted 27k. Tranny 3 lasted 44k.

here are some pictures. Bear in mind, it is a Camry. If anyone has nothing good to say, please keep it to yourself. Thanks.

Features that I like.. the interior is leather with the seats having the lumbar support as well as heat; auto lights; NAV includes Canada (I cross into BC at least once a month); the car is quiet but is a 'slug' compared to the CLS

Features I miss.. the auto tilt wing mirror, the instant get up & go and the memory seats.

...not big on the wood trim (in any car) but that's a nice ride man. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. I've spent A LOT of time in Camrys and IMHO they really are step above Accords and a few steps above Altimas (easily).

Sidenote: I'm amazed at how similar the ES330 and Camry resemble each other. <--- that comment probably wouldnt make ES owners happy though.

Looks good. My mom bought a Camry SE (she wanted the sunroof and rear spoiler), so I'm familiar with them. Great cars...

thanks. Spoiler has been ordered. I most likely will not do the chrome wheels as I have spent enough. I was tempted to do the Lexus GS300 but that is some bucks in difference..

like I said, I'm happy with the car.

The Camry was the one car that I had really considered buying before getting the TL-S. I didn't want to have to think about tranny issue but as I sat in a (ugh) green XLE (with all the option, nonetheless), I found out that I didn't like the interior at all. And because I would be driving it everyday, I knew I couldn't handle not liking what I see. Oh well.
Anyway, Congrats to you on your purchase. It's a fine choice.
