Personally I think Brabus styling is more bold. As far as engine mods go Brabus has nothing on the AMG 65s but as far as tuning normal S,CL,SL 500s, 55s they pump out more power than stock

I'd pick Brabus but they can be a little over the top on cosmetic mods sometimes.

Brabus is somewhat more radical, but given that AMG itself is not too "quiet", and the factory-based tuner, they are probably the most reliable of the two.

Brabus also does Interior upgrades and electronics which AMG does not.

Those twin fog lights look very very nice.

I guess if you want to distinguish yourself from the bourgeois AMG crowd....why not, huh?

Of course, if you want crazy, Renntech is the tuner that makes the Mercedes monstrous performance vehicles.

AMG is the most tame as they are the factory tuner. Once you get an AMG, you can then by upgrades from Brabus, Kleemann, MKB, Renntech, etc. They all make similar upgrades.

Kleemann modified the Merc's engine like maniac (with compressors)....well until AMG came up with SL65 and S65L with 600+hps V12. They are freakin' crazy.

AMG is just getting your foot in the door. All the other tuners can take the AMG model and take it to the next level. Kleemann can take the SL65 with "only 612hp/1000Nm", slap on a Kleemann ECU, and you get a 739hp/1300Nm monster.

They also have a C55 k8 running 0.5 bar boost producing 600hp/800Nm. This thing can pace a stock SL65 for about $100k less.

BRABUS all the way. AMG is factory tuned ( basically stock from benz ).

Heres a good comparison... You buy an integra type R from HONDA ( bone stock factory tuned ) and then ship your car to Mugen. A month later the car has a new race engine dropped in it, the interior / exterior is decked out with JDM Mugen stuff.
And to top it off... you can trade in your old motor and they will give you a cheaper price on the new engine

My buddy had an S500, he spent close to 30 grand on dress up and interior... Brabus wanted another 35grand for the (BRABUS 6.1 S increased capacity engine, for S 500, 445 hp / 327 kW, 635 Nm at 4,500 rpm)

They have several engine packages for every single chassis/platform that benz makes... Imagine if mugen gave you the choice between droppin in a k series or B series etc etc... Words cannot describe how Brabus makes me feel

Aftermarket tuner such as Brabus and RENNTech are always going to be more extreme than an in-house tuner like AMG. I really think the Brabus cars are quite nice, but they should be for the price that you pay.

I'd rather get an AMG 65 car and spend my own money custom-tuning it. It would work out a hair cheaper, quite possibly be more tasteful, and be exactly what I want as opposed to what Brabus or RENNTech think my kind of a buyer wants.

Well, the good thing about custom tuners like Brabus and RENNTech is that you can go as extreme as you want or as mild as you want. That's the beauty of their business models. As for being cheaper to do it yourself, what you save on labor might be made up in frustration and headaches. To each his own.

it depends if you want dependablity or flat out speed/handling

AMG is going to more dependable due to the fact they are a in-house tuner. every AMG motor build(because the motors are hand built)has to go through a hellious training session.. plus Benz will stand behind the warrenty on this.

now Kleeman they will open the car up more. but BYE BYE warrenty and dependablity.

personally if it was my money I'd go with the AMG. I haven't seen a AMG i don't like

when we went to the Brabus Dealer to have my dad's goodies put on his car, they had a Cl600 biturbo making over 650hp and something like 850lb ft of torque it was insane. 20 inch black/polished lip monoblocks, and the full brabus aerokit. Also had those 12 piston calipers on it

Also, my dad has a lil of both. C43 ///AMG with Brabus Wheels/Suspension:

For my money (waiting on my lotto ticket), I'm sticking with AMG performance. The others are fine for interior and exterior goodies, but I'm leery of their mechanical "upgrades." How many times have you read that one of their machines suffered a dibilitating electrical gremlin?! I'm sure they have the best intentions, but either the "upgraded" internals can't take the increased thrust or they haven't gotten them fully dialed in. And one last thing, it's easy to say it has 9 jillion hp. It's all dreams until you actually see the dyno.

Don't get me wrong. They look hot, but...

I think i'd go with Brabus just because I hardly ever see em, and see AMG at least once or twice a day. Has anybody heard of Carlsson?

Yes They have great coilovers.

Personally, I would pick & choose the parts from each tuner to match my needs.
