AMG Driving Academy

Anyone done this class, or any of its predecessors?
They're offering it at COTA (Austin) in December & not sure when next year. Thinking about it, likely once the 2016 calendar is released. Wouldn't mind doing Laguna Seca, but COTA is 'local' to me by comparison (4 hr drive).

Thoughts/impressions? Is it worth the $1,800 for Basic to blast around in 5-6 AMGs all day? Free if you buy an AMG, wonder if I can get my grandmother to get me a free pass from her salesman, she's bought 6 S-class cars in the last 17 years, half a min should count for something .

Not too many reviews on the COTA class online, I think this might be the first year for it.

From what I've been able to find, it's about the only local driving school that provides the vehicles. There are a few at the 2-3 tracks around Houston, but they all require you supply your own vehicle. Don't think my TL would stand up to that too well, nor would be as fun.

$1800 seems ridiculously high.

There's 86 GT academy every month here in LA. It's like $80 per person. You will get a personal lesson for 6-8 hours at Balcony Willow Springs.

since, im pretty active on here....I was approached by a company that saw my post count and wanted me to advertise for them.

they were an auto track company that provided a weekend of track time, with instructors and all that jazz, here in Houston.
but you are right, the individual has to provide the cars and not the company.

try working your grandma's salesman!!

No, you have to bring your own car. Don't have to be FRS/BRZ, it's open for any cars.

You actually get to learn how to control your car at the limit.
