am i wrong here

so this morning i'm driving to work in a residential burbish area. This guy pulls out of his driveway, and I would have had to hit my breaks to slow down, so instead i just pass him. I was probably going 5-10 over. This happens to me all the time on the way to work, it aggravates me. I always wait for on coming traffic, but these people will pull out in front of you and proceed to accelarate at their own speed even when they obviously see you are going faster than them. At the next stop he pulls next to me, and is screaming

-what the hell are you doing? what the hell was that?
- you cut ME off, asshole!
- you were at the stop sign, i didn't cut you off
- if i have to slam on my breaks so i don't hit you, didn't you cut me off?
- NO.
- what do you care if i pass you anyway?
- i have kids that live here.
- Oh really? when your kids are PLAYING ON THE STREET are you concernd about guys pulling out of their driveway that aren't looking, or just people driving on the street?
- just go.

and i grew up in this neighborhood, people do drive fast which is why we had to stay out of the street.

I hate people like that. I always wait until everything is clear before pulling out.

residential streets are a bitch. Gotta be careful but the oblivious idiots that just pull out of their driveways like they are the only people on the planet deserve some kind of crap.

Dunno, I'd be worried about kids and just hit the brakes I guess, then shoot the bastard! j/k

Usually I just give people like that the "Mutumbo No No with my finger" and just shake my head. In your case, I would of added, you're a parent and you're this dumb.

I absolutely despise people who rush to pull out in front of you only to go 20 miles an hour slower than you were going and take forever to accelerate. People like that should have their licenses revoked for being complete idiots.

I've know what you mean - I remember a lady did that to me once and I honked at her and went around her (4-lane road). We both stop at a light and she is next to me (oh great) and she honks at me and flips me off. So I rub my eyes like I'm crying and go "Boo Hoo Hoo" at her. She cracked up laughing and so did I. She said "yea you're right no big deal."

But I do hate when there is NO ONE behind you and someone pulls in front of you. They can't wait 10 seconds for you to go by, they just have to pull in front of you.

Happens to me all the time. I just honk as I pass, intentionally a little close.

If someone pulls up next to me screaming out the window, I just use my favorite digit to push my ear forward as if to say "I'm sorry, I can't hear you."

That is my biggest fucking issue. I HATE that.

I also think that people who don't signal should be thrown in prison. How hard is it to flick the little stick?

I had a friend who use to think this way, then one day, he broke his little stick and couldn't signal for 3 days.

yeah i don't care if people want to pull out, but i do not feel i should have to brake either. Just this morning I am driving normal speed, about 50 on a back road and some girl pulls out in front with some little shit car and proceeds to accelerate as slowly as possible. So i just coasted and wound up being all on her ass for a little bit. I didn't do it on purpose, i was just not going to brake for her. I could see her watching in her mirror like i was trying to tailgate her or something.

Very hard when you're on the phone with one hand and holding your latte in the other.

Of course you have those people, who once they see a turn signal from a car that wants to change lanes, they try and close the space so the car with their blinker on can't merge...

To be honest i get pissed off too when im backing out and look all around me to see if its clear. Then I have some asshole speeding down the street.. last min. I have to slam on my own brakes so i dont hit them. So i can see why he was pissed about it.

Then again I live on a corner house with good amount of traffic.

a large majority of people will always blame other people first and never even consider they did anything wrong.

Well if you're in a residential area, like a neighborhood, and someone is pulling out of their house and is clearly moving out into the road, its the courteous move to slow down/even come to a stop to let them out. Happens a lot and I only keep going if they are clearly still up in their driveway or if they are waiting for me to pass.

So yea, it is kinda a dick move to just pretend he wasn't in the process of entering the road especially when you're going 5-10 over in this type of area, whats it a 25 zone.

The thing that gets me about all of this is why don't you fucking people just BACK into your driveway at night so you can pull forward in the morning when the traffic is heavy?

Cuz you are stopping traffic when you are reversing into the drive way. That takes more time which will piss more people off who are behind you.

The thing that gets me is he didn't save anytime by blowing by the guy, they both met up at the next stop sign.

I have a great line when someone starts yelling at me like that, I look a touch crazy to start with I will admit, I just get this crazy look in my eyes like I am ready to kill a room full of 5 year olds and I yell at the a-hole "if you say another word I am going to bite your fucking nose off". If you can say this with extreme conviction they will leave you alone, because two things run through their minds (i)if I start shit with this guy he might just bite my nose off and (ii) who the hell threatens to bite someone's nose off this guy is crazy. Its saved my ass a few times and I have yet to bite someones nose off.

I agree people who cut you off and then have the balls to yell at you and claim their kids play around there should have their nose bit off.

No you're right. I had the same thing happen. Some asshole who lives on the main road is backing out of his driveway, he clearly sees me coming so he continues coming out. I honk and drive past before he could get his rear out onto the street. He pulls up to me at the red light and starts bitching at me I just rolled up my window and ignored him. If he's going give me lip after he was wrong, no point in arguing with him.

I don't think it really matters whether it's a residential street or not; person backing out of the driveway does not have the right of way. I think the courteous thing to do is to wait for road traffic to clear and then back out of your driveway and not start trouble when you catch up with the person who had the right of way to begin with

Well there is a line to point at who is being the dick, if the person pulls out on you then clearly they are the ass and vice versa for some someone driving around someone who is already out of the driveway into the street etc., no situation is exactly the same...

I don't think waiting for all road traffic to clear is really fair, an approaching car from even a fairly good distance can approach on a backing out car pretty quickly.

YES me too. I have the "one more car rule" as I call it. I look and say, what would happen if I waited for one more car to pass before I try this left turn, right turn, merge, whatever. If I look behind that car and there's a lot of space for me to pull my intended manuever, then that's what I do-wait for that car to pass and make it easier for everyone.
