Ah the idiocy/irony

Driving home tonight I was behind an electric Mini Cooper.

I was sitting there thinking, ah neat I 'm seeing one in the wild.

Next thing I notice is the driver has his arm out the window a lit cigarette....next thing after that, green light, diphit throws his lit cig out the windows into the street. And after that, the guy zips off like royal cock-knocker and cuts another driver off.

I had to chuckle at this...though I do kinda wish his lithium batteries explode while on charge and burn his home down.

No I understand what you mean. I completely agree. You know, now that we're talking about smokers, it reminds me of the people that smoke outside of my school. There is a sign that clearly states "Smoking is not allowed in this area. We respect our student and faculty who do not smoke" (or something like that ). And yet every time I'm coming in for class, leaving home or getting lunch, there are at least 5 of them every single time standing right below the signs smoking there asses off. I haven't said anything yet, but I know one day I will. I won't be nice about it either.

And the fact that there are about 6.9 billion of them must just piss you off to no end.

I hate it when I get near some smoker, especially when I've got my windows or the sunroof open. My car then smells like cigarettes for the next few days.

Apparently, the fact that he was driving an "eco friendly" car is getting lost on everyone...

I think a lot of people that smoke own a 'eco-friendly' car. It probably makes them feel a little better about themselves.

The guy that lives across the street from me smokes literally like 3 packs a day and he owns a Prius. Go figure....

While polluting the air, littering, and driving in a manner to minimize its efficiency? Nope, got it right off. I chuckled, as well.

I love it when Prius drivers drive like maniacs or floor the pedal. They DO realize when they do that, they're getting something like 12 MPG right? Stupid ECO idiots.

What a dick, I hate when people litter!

I don't think it was the "owner" of the vehicle... MINI E is still in testing...

That sounds like everyone around here. Hybrids galore but they drive like bats out of hell.

Damn Yankee snowbirds moving down here

They are special leases, much like honda did with the FCX vehicle, and bimmer does with the hydrogen 7s.

Awesome. What a frickin' moron. I always visibly shake my head at smokers who throw their cigs out of the window. If I had any balls, I would pick the thing up and fling it back in their faces.

so are you pissed that he smokes or that he litters or both? Throwing shit out the window I get, that pisses me off too. Especially when I drive behind someone and he throws the cigarette UP out the window so it lands on my car or something. But the fact that he smokes doesn't bother me at all. He is inhaling smoke, not me, so I don't really give a shit.

I always fear that one day when someone throws a cigarette out the window, an old car with a leaky gas tank will drive over it and kaboom......is that even possible??

As I said...the fact did all this while driving a highly "eco friendly" car is lost on most people...

Thanks for confirming that.

Catch on fire, maybe... but blow up? I don't think so. It would probably have to be a very steady leak too, not just a drip.... drip...

Since when are cars that run on coal and nuclear power "eco friendly"?

Just reminding the folks who may have forgotten that electric cars are about the least eco friendly vehicles on the planet. They don't just magically recharge out of thin air and the electricity that does charge them doesn't really come from your house unless your house is 100% off the power grid and you acquire all of your electricity from real eco friendly sources like wind and solar.

Interestingly enough I have a camera operator friend/acquaintance who went full solar panel and took himself off the power grid, and then bought a new chevy volt.

Of course, we wont get into what it takes to make those batteries for the cars...

Modern nuclear power is actually very clean and 'carbon friendly'

As for eco-hypocrisy, I've seen a Prius driver toss a bag of McDonalds out their window on I-5.

No, they usually bounce off my hood or windshield

I had a burn mark in my paint from one on my hood of my 4runner, I have since started trying to dodge them at all costs, but god it pisses me off when that shit comes flying at me

This is what totally kills all credibility for hybrid cars for me, the amount of polution it took to make those stupid batteries is more polution than my SUV would put out in a thousand years, idiots

lol, what I was thinking. I see what you're driving at in that regard, but people buy "eco-friendly" cars for one of two reasons. They either think they can help save the planet by driving a lower emissions vehicle, or they just want an efficient car b/c to save themselves money on gas.

This guy is probably the latter, and doesn't care about the environment as much as he does his own pocket.

Or in my case:

3) it had the space I needed and the price was unbeatable.

Sure beats the reason why all the lunatics around here buy them; they want everybody to know about the good work they're doing anonymously.

All you have to do is look up cobalt mining in Africa and you'll see how the essential materials for these batteries are procured. Very dirty, and people are dying for it.

And for Dave, yes, the irony. Let's save the planet and litter.

Reminds me of a certain South Park episode.

So true. And all the added cost used thereafter to process raw materials and transport them for manufacturing, along with what goes into the air as a result...pretty much negates all the good the car will ever do. Sad part is most Prius owners don't educate themselves on this.
