Advice... new car? keep mine?

basically i will keep this as short as possible.

im 19, in college, work part time. i drive a 2002 tl type s with 95k miles. this month it will officially be paid off. so far my car has had the trans replaced (free. no problem) battery, throttle body, motor mounts, brakes, and tires and now i just found out today i need a new sub-throttle body., and will have to put new tires on in the near future since its been almost 30k miles already. keep in mind i bought the car july of 06. so all of this in not even two years is hard on a college student. i was considering selling and either a. buying a car of equal value (such as a cl 6 speed) :-) with a certified warranty, or b. keeping this and dealing with whatever may happen in the future with no warranty as a safety net. I do not abuse the car despite my age, of course every now n then i like to hear the vtec but who doesnt? Older aged car enthusiasts shed your light. I love my car, and if i sold it i could not downgrade i do not spend much money outside of on my car, and the occasional girlfriend obligations of going out to eat and such haha. my car is about the only thing i really have a passion for and its important to me to drive one i enjoy (obviously if im a member on AZ) i understand i would be faced with some more payments but i would like the idea of low mileage and warranty protection. im approaching 100k which means timing belt and water pump are in my near future as well. again, advice would be great. thanks.

...wasnt so short after all :-/

WEll,

I guess at 38 I'm old enough to be your..Nevermind

It sounds like the vehicle is in good shape, even needing some of the things you mentioned. Now, tires are a normal part of owning a car. You'll buy those no matter what.

My advice is keep it, as being 19 and not having a car payment is a huge luxury. The money that would have been the car payment should be put aside so you can pay for repairs / another car. It's better to have no payment than be burdened with one.

Besides, I don't think the trade in value of your TL is going to go down much more.

keep it...the maintenance on the horizon is normal. considering you're only working part time and the car's paid for you're in the game right now...save up your money for something with a roof and a yard

Keep it. The car is paid for and you seem to have done quite a bit of repairs and upkeep. Cars come and go, but the most important thing is to make sure you have gotten your money out of it. Its still a nice car, and at your age you'll have many opportunities to purchase and enjoy different cars as you grow older. If you are concerned about any repairs in the near future take the car to a Honda or Acura dealership, spend a couple hours labour charges, and have a detailed analysis and report performed.

I'm only some ten years older than you but I'll give yo my 2 cents. Keep it and repair whatever goes wrong. Save the money to pay off college or start saving for your next car. I do understand the need for something else comes every now and then, but for 19 you have a very nice car. Keep it and enjoy.

i appreciate the quick responses. you guys are right, i don't need another monthly payment, i just needed some support as i have been getting discouraged as of late with the repairs that keep coming up. guess the only thing left to do is fix it and move on to more mods, as i am in desperate need of a drop.

At 19 years old I was driving a 1979 Honda Accord hatchback.

Keep the TL-S for as long as you can. It's a damn nice car and you should easily get another 100k out of it.

Car payments suck. Car payments in college suck even more.

I'd rather spend the money on beer and easy women

keep it, and deal with any problems when/if arises... but the money you save for NOT buying another car... save it, just in case when/if problem arises...

btw, my last car was a 02' TL-S, actually it's still in the family... for a 19 year? You're stylin'
