No, it's up to the dealer. They don't have to do it, or they can choose to do it only if you bought the car there.

When we bought our car the sales guy actually came out to our house to complete the transaction. Additionally, one time we needed the car serviced but my wife was not going to be out that way... so our sales guy did exactly what Belzebutt mentioned. They came out, picked up our car, and left us with the loaner.

We didn't pay anything extra for any of that and we do not have any VIP package... they just did it.

For the record though... for the OG's... especially from the Northeast.... I used to use Park Ave Acura in Jersey for service. They were phenominal. Just about every time I went I got an Acura loaner (not a rental), and they would always go above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I haven't seen them on the forums the last several years... but when they were they were top notch... not just to me, but to everyone.

That said, the overall experience from Audi still feels more higher end... but their service department could give any of the "big 4" luxury makers a run for their money. Sales on the other hand felt like a used Honda dealership... but I didn't buy my car from them... just service.

Since then I've been getting my TSX serviced at the local Acura dealer, and every time I had the option to get a loaner. I could also get a free car wash at the Acura dealership at any time. I would swing by now and then to get my car washed.

I just bought an Audi A4 and before I even got my first service I already found out that at my local dealer there is no free loaners and no free car washes, only when you get the car serviced.

As far as high-end service goes, Acura 2, Audi 0. I didn't get loaners and car washes at my Honda dealer either, so far Audi's looking more like Honda than Acura is from that point of view.
In 2006 I purchased a Jetta 2.0T over a TSX and didnt consider the A4 as it was more comparable to the TL. (Edmunds had the Jetta beating out the TSX in 2006).

The service i received at the VW dealer though was very surprising. I received free car washes if i requested on every visit. Free loaners whenever service work is required, except oil changes (unless one was available as they didnt rent vehicles for oil changes). The only time I had to use the Roadside assistance in 4 years they didnt have any loaners left so the adviser said "I hope you dont mind but we rented a vehicle for you as we dont have any loaners left" .

One time I had my vehicle in for an oil change and i called them from Winnipeg and when i arrived in Calgary they had someone at the airport to give me a ride back to my car.

My co-worker didnt believe me but when he saw it first hand he couldnt believe it. He has a TL and he says he struggles some times to get a lift in a courtesy vehicle, which is an older ford econoline van. The VW dealer uses a Touareg or a Routan.

Whats surprises me the most about all of this, is that this is just a VW Jetta and not a luxury brand or model like what Acura is suppose to be. As others have said every dealer can be different as they are independently operated. In my area though Acura is no better than Honda, GM, Kia etc IMO....

I am not sure what the Audi dealers in my area are like but being both are owned by the same VW dealer I go too, im sure its even better.
