That's a hard one. I think the LGT only comes in a 4AT though? 4EAT? not sure IIRC but it sounds like a TL-S would be your best choice. I personally would only go for manuals, and the TL-S has the best shifter. LGT shifter was a little rubbery to me but I love the potential there, plus the sound is great with an unequal length header. But it sounds like you don't care for either sound or performance potential.

Lookswise I like the LGT especially the 05-07 the most but the TL-S has the nicest interior.

The LGT can be had with either a 5EAT or a 6MT. Of course, the 6 is better, but the auto has a full manual mode with paddle shifting, or short throws forward or back on the lever.

One thing with the LGT, is if you order it, you can get a STI short throw shifter as an option.

Of the older ones, the one like mine is the 2008/09 LGT specB. That car has a Torsen LSD, 45/55 torque split (for a more rear bias, but the AWD is constant to all wheels), Bilstein inverted strut setup, better looking grille, lowered about an inch, and 215/45-18 wheels/tires. The ride is firm, but not bone jarring.

If it is even a thought, that is the one to look for IMO.

What do you guys think? G35X S, navi, back up cam. Fully loaded at 43k. I went to go test drive it yesterday with a friend of mine. It drove fine but it was filthy and the salesman admitted the manager was driving it around for a little while. Im sure he abused it a little

Thinking about pulling the trigger....Did a little research and the only common problem I can see with this car are brake/rotor issues. Its an 08 btw. Opinions?

I like the Subaru's AWD system, and any power deficit issues can be cured by some light modifying. But IMO interior isn't that good, it doesn't feel in the same semi-luxury class as the TL and G35 do.

TL: Best interior, from what I hear, smoothest drivetrain, powerful enough. It's also the best looking of the three, IMO, but that's all subjective and the other two don't look bad.

G35: Obviously the most powerful, and RWD which is always good. A proper set of winter tires, and you shouldn't have a problem with the G in the winter. But IMO the interior is worse than the TLs, and while it might be expensive now, resale drops like a rock compared to the other two. I'm seeing 2003 G35s for less than 2003 Accords.

IMO take the TL. Only real downside to it is that it's FWD, and the only time that makes a difference is when you're in a race. As your DD, I'm sure the increased efficiency and superior interior are things that you'd appreciate much more.

I would try to stay away from the 08/09 years.

08 = Old motor with new body style

09 = Old 5 AT transmission

But then again, these models will be cheaper than the newer G37x with 7 AT. If you are willing to take the hit on depreciation then go for it...

TL Type S would be my choice for "all around good value". If you want awd, I'd go with the Subaru.

TL-S, or Subaru.

G35 is overrated, expensive, and resale value is horrible. Even though it might be the most powerful, what good is the power if its just your D/D? The TL-S would make a better D/D if compared to the G.

I also personally feel that the TL-S offers you everything you need while the G offers you everything you need plus stuff you don't need, which is the reason why Infiniti jacks the price up.
Example: Who really needs a "X" amount of harddrive memory? They state, its for you to rip music to. Okay? but why did you also give me a USB and Aux jack at the same time? See what I mean? They offer you a harddrive memory when you don't need one and chances are you probably won't use it. Infiniti gets more money out of it, and you just paid for something you don't even use.

hmmm, i'd go with the g35. best of both worlds, performance +luxury + comfort.

The TL Type S, although i do like the design, i really hate the FWD layout....torque steer is a b**** to deal with, and mpg isn't really good given it's performance. Otherwise, it'd be my second choice.

Is that why you drive an M3?

When I said overrated, I meant a lot of people owning one. From what I see not a lot of people own E92 M3s, and E46 M3s. Unless you are strictly talking about popularity then you are right, its overrated. Yeah, you're right, resale value sucks. Yeah, the BMW M3 is expensive, but its a wonderful car. Hell, I don't even drive it that often. I have 37XX miles on my BMW M3; the last time I drove it was last weekend. I'm in my TSX way more often, because the gas doesn't kill me. The M3 is just here for fun, and weekend fun, since I don't have my dad's money for gas. I gotta use my own money from work, and Forever 21 doesn't pay that much considering its a part time job too.

I've driven all three cars the TLS in stick, G35 in auto, and Subie in Stick

I will say if you need a stick shift get the TLS cause the other two have pretty bad shifting feel and in the G35 you can feel a lot of vibes.

I am most impressed by the sound of the TLS engine the other are not revy enough sounding. Just too blunt a sound.

By all means get a stick TLS cause there is a HUGH difference in the performance vs auto in the car, this is from personal driving exp not here say.

I have a slight fetish for the way the Legacy GT looks and its AWD.

But I am pretty loyal to Honda/Acura so I'd most likely go with the TL-S

As for the G35,
the last gen is a go for me, it looks really good.

the one you test drove, those look hideous imo.

No need to troll for me. Just drive one and make your own judgement.

As far as it being a bit lower on the quality scale, the new model is a big improvement, but not up to Audi/Acura/BMW class. I've never said it was, but they are trying.

I'm happy with my G.... I've never driven an X though. Drive what you feel fits you the most. I miss my 3G TL at times very invisible car which was a good thing.

Why the extreme dislike for the G? I test drove the 3G TL-S, 4G TL(was too ugly), G35/37, among others and found the G to be the most fun to drive, availability of AWD, and styling to be selling points over the others.

I drove a G35 sport (the only one with a manual transmission) a bit ago and thought it was very good, other than the lack of steering wheel feedback and some vibration in the shifter. (I did a brief write-up about it in a thread here). I'm still kind of considering one, but it's not nearly a "Wow, have to get it!" feeling.

I looked at some last generation Subaru Legacy GTs, but they're tough to find in general, and I don't know if a non-battered one exists. One I did find had frightening-looking brakes, Primewell tires and was at a dealer network known for very poor sales tactics (nearly all the local Subaru dealers are in this chain), so it wasn't a good example. I didn't like the interior much, either.

I'm curious if anyone buys a second Infiniti G or Subaru Legacy GT.

If he plans on purchasing used then that pretty much works in his favor. (read: buyer leverage)

Sean, on your find. I'd go through with it provided they detail it immediately prior to delivery.

Jay, for whatever reason Nissan/Infiniti products are VERY polarizing on Azine. Folks either love them or hate them with little middle ground. I'll be the first to confess that I'm a Nissan fanboy but, I give props to Acura, Honda or any other make when they execute well. The 2G Infiniti G executes VERY well...which may be reason enough for the contempt.

I thought he was talking about the 1G G35.

If it was the G37 then:

1. Subie
2. G37
3. TL-S
