Acura TL(06) vs CIVIC SI (08) VS G35 (04)

Hey Guys I was wondering if you guys can help me out on some cars i'm trying to look at! I'm really stuck on what car i want to buy. I've driven all 3 cars but am torn between what to buy! The TL has 39000 miles on it, the G35 has 40000, and the SI 18,000. Im getting them for around 16 grand each. The SI is the only stick. I love stick, but I am moving to the city in two years....but I don't want to rule it out!

Plus are there any problems with the 06 TL?

ahhhh!

please help

Thanks!

no major problems with the 06', a few recalls but take it to the dealer and they'll fix if for free. i'd stay with manual. take ur time looking for one and that's a good price.

I say go with the Si if you had the most fun driving it. Don't listen to anyone saying you'll hate driving stick in the city. To me that's always been a lame excuse. Unless you're driving a stage 4 clutch with massive pedal resistance it'll be fine. I drove a 40 mile commute through NYC/CT traffic for 3 years with a 5 speed 240SX and a 5 speed Civic Si. I never once sat there thinking I really wish I had an auto right now.

I wouldn't get a g35, I think that car is so fucking ugly inside, it's border line gross. And i you drive alot, it would be painfull to look at it all the time IMO

I would say TL, but try to find one in stick, it'll be cheaper too I'd think. Civic SI is ehh so and so, I'd give up my RSX-S for a TL any day.

The 04 G35 is pretty dowdy looking. The interior is pretty cheap feeling. I would say, the G35 should be bottom of the list when comparing the relatively similar sedans (G35 vs TL). The Civic is a different kind of car. It will probably be more fun to drive initially but after a couple of years, it gets old. Get the TL.

I would also say are you interested in luxury or that feeling of as you said being able to throw the car around a little bit? if your into nice leather seats a comfortable ride and a few nice bits in the tl that the civic doesnt have then get the TL. If you just want a little pocket rocket get the SI. Either way you cant lose they are both Honda's at heart. I didnt even mention the G35 because like was stated before, it has a horrendous looking interior. But i guess i am also biased as i drive an 07 TL-S.. Good luck

To me, that's an easy choice. Civic Si all the way, and I'm saying that BECAUSE you're moving to a city. The Civic is 10" shorter than a G35 and 12"+ shorter than the TL, not to mention 3 inches narrower than the TL. Take it from someone (me) who spent years living in one of the toughest cities to drive and park in, namely San Francisco. That difference in length will make a Si way easier to park, easier to maneuver in city traffic, and it will get significantly better city gas mileage than the other two. It has a better turning radius as well.

As to the manual vs. automatic question, IMO its it can be advantageous to have a manual transmission in a city vs. an automatic. Its easier to cut and thrust drive with a manual (provided you're good at rowing gears), and quite frankly it will make you a better driver. If you're in a hilly city like San Francisco, you just have to perfect your heel-toe technique. Man up!

Oh and to be of help some more, the TL will be faster then the SI just going to throw that out as well, so technically throw some suspension mods and some exhaust work on the TL you can thrash on it like an SI lol.

04 G35 is pretty outdated. I'd go for at least the 05 to get some of the nice exterior and interior upgrades.

I used to be ghey for G's but at this point, now that I've matured a little, I think the TL is just a better all-around car. It's just more versatile, and a lot easier on the eyes when stock and especially when modded. But, if I had to do it again knowing what I know now and knowing my current budget, I'd get a Civic Si or 06 RSX type-s over my Auto TL. If I could get my hands on a TL 6mt though, I'd be sold immediately.

If you want two doors, G35. If you want four, the TL.
