Acura RL.... Hyundai Sonata???

Is it just me, or does the rear end of the 03ish Hyundai Sonata and the new Acura RL look the same?

What.... you guys are nuts! Those taillights look like they came out of the daewoo junk box, and the body style is almost identical to the Sonata. The only thing that looks different are the rims and the tailpipes.

The new RL = Not sexy at all.

X 1. I bought one, albeit for 9K beneath sticker. As for the rear resembling a Hyundai, to each his own but i say "WTF?"

I think you need your eyes checked. You may not like the RL, but it doesn't resemble the Sonata in the slightest.

If anything, the 7G Accord and RL have a stronger resemblance.....which is understandable to some degree.

Well considering that the A, B and C pillars are virtually identical...

Is it me or is there a lot of superiority amongst 3G TL owners? e.g. 3G TL owners making threads about how the 2G is an ugly cow, the 3G is so much better than the TSX, and now this. The OP's first post just was an innocent question, then his next completely trashed the RL.

Not saying the OP thinks the TL is superior to the RL in any way, except perhaps in looks, but this is an example of the same narrow-minded thinking from people who say "I'll never buy a Ford" or "I'll never buy a Honda"

^^ The only thing they have in common is vanilla, and they both don't look like a premium or flagship car.

I get the concept but I find them to be completely different. I'm probably among the few ones to still have mad love for the RL and find it attractive.I want one in the future for sure. ACURA FTW!!

I've been an Acura fan boy for the longest, but the RL fails completely on exterior design. It looks like a bloated Accord instead of a 50k luxury car. I really think if Acura would have gone with a better/more daring design, it would be a hit. I love everything else about the RL though, beautiful interior, great features, nice V6 etc etc

Mugen does a very good job on finishing where acura left off. Touge;s car from the RL forums made me love the RL:

x2.... I agree, that RL looks very sharp, but I also agree with SeCsTaC. I don't think Acura had the balls to make a statement with their flagship car exterior's styling.

I like the RL, a LOT. But aesthetically: Infiniti M FTW. (<---particularly with the OEM body kit)

Back on topic and just to recap: RL, Sonata, zero resemblance.

i see more of a resemblance between the rears of the sonata and pre-refresh accord and the fronts of the sonata and 2008 accord.

so take the rear of the pre-refresh accord and the front of the 2008 accord, and you nearly have a sonata.

but the sonata still looks better.
