2007 Acura MDX Sport

Highs: Agile in the hills, superior tracking, gratifying to drive.

Lows: Goofy grille, cluttered center rack, no low-range 4WD.

The Verdict: As much sport as utility, and, hey, it’s a Honda.

Is it just me or are the MDX not selling as well as the previous model? I rarely see one on my commute.

Perhaps comparisons like this will alert the public to how good the MDX is.....

very true, but honestly, when my mother bought her MDX the first year it came out, it seemed like a lot of people had one before her and even more people had them after. i think i've seen a couple on the roads since their debut. maybe it has something to do with the $6000 price increase.

got this excerpt from TOV:

04/03/2007 - TORRANCE, Calif - Boosted by a March record for light truck sales, Acura sold 16,986 vehicles for the month, less than 500 units behind March 2006. Sales of the popular MDX and RDX crossover SUVs combined for a new Acura March light-truck record of 7,209 units, the luxury division announced today.

The redesigned 2007 Acura MDX luxury SUV was the top-selling Acura light truck in March with 4,785 units sold, surpassing the 4,682 tally of a year ago. Meanwhile, the turbocharged RDX entry-premium SUV posted total sales of 2,424 units, making March its second-best month since it was introduced in June, 2006.

The Acura TL performance luxury sedan led all Acura vehicles with 5,769 units sold in March, while the TSX sports sedan posted near-record sales of 3,232 units.

I looked at the MDX and RDX while the TSX was in for a car wash today. MDX interior is nice, but seems a bit smaller in the back area and the cargo space compared to the 1st generation.

Also, I would not want to spend $50K on the one that was in the showroom. It was loaded though with the DVD navi and the rear DVD entertainment.

but that really wasn't performance comparo... The author stated that rating was really based on daily driving needs instead of (like before) performance, otherwise I am sure X5, ML and GX470 will beat the sh*t out of MDX.

and yet even in performance they didn't

EDIT: fsttyms beat me to it. The Caddy was the only one that was quicker. I'm surprised the GX with its 4.7V8 wasn't quicker.

Really? I see tons of them around NJ. I didn't like the grille at first, but I've grown to really like the new MDX a lot now.

Did I just see a classic web ownage...

Anyways, I sat in the MDX at the auto show...for some reason, it didn't wow me like I expected it to. Maybe my expectations were too high, dunno.

it should win, it's better than the competition in its class. A guy I work with just bought a brand spankin new loaded MDX navi it is a pearl white color and looks very sharp, great handling for an SUV, very good acceleration, reliable, roomy and gets over 20mpg= a winner. I want one bad now that I've seen his, not fair.

I loved the grille the minute I saw it. It was like that big sigh of relief to see Acura taking a bold (and good IMO) step in design. And yeah, I'm starting to see these things in NJ. They're not around every corner yet, like the old MDX, but they're getting out there.

I agree. Although I didn't like it at first, I do like it now, and I think the grille makes it look more aggressive. I'd get one if I was looking for an SUV and had the money.
