I bought my 06 TSX at Hinshaw Honda (used). I also bought my Pilot from the same dealer. Had very good salesmen both times. I also used to sell Acuras WAY back in 1990 (Tonkin in Portland). On one hand, I find it very, very unusual that a salesman would do that. They get paid on commission. I didn't care how big a jerk a customer was, I'd put up with anything if it meant a sale. To call a customer at home like that - killing any possible sale - is just strange. I can't believe a simple disagreement in price alone would cause them to do that (people walking out over price happen daily). If it's true, it's uncalled for and they deserve the complaint and lost sale. I just can't see how failed negotiations alone would lead to a call at home...

I've done this the last 2 cars I bought. Overall I've saved ~$7k in "total cost of payments".
This works well for a couple of reasons. Primarily you remove many of the negotiating advantages the dealer has when you are on his lot.
Dealing by e-mail, you control the timing, you have better access to accurate information, you have remove the advantage of the "setting" and it much less confrontational.
Finally, by the time you walk into the dealership, you can know ALL the financial information about your deal - you just need to sign the paperwork.

You know I really don’t know what is wrong with him, I have been to so many car dealer before and never once encounter this kind of situation before, maybe he just haven’t get lay for a while or if he really desperate need this sale to met his goal or something. I really what happen, maybe he was just had a bad day, but nevertheless it is so unprofessional for him (for his career) and the dealer (give that dealer a bad name).

Regardless of what he put on the table the salesman has no right to call his house and verbally abuse them. Who wouldnt go into a dealership and try and get the payoff price of their car.

You want to get the salesman back? Go back to Hinshaw but deal with another salesman, and buy a car. Make it a condition of the sale that the first salesman get no commission. Let the first salesman see you do it. Oh, and as a paying customer at Hinshaw Acura, make the point to the sales manager about who treated you poorly. Once you're a paying customer, they'll be much more inclined to listen. After all, they want your repeat business and service. Going to another dealership is fine, but in a way that just means the salesman who treated you poorly wins.
We used to call it "blowing someone out" when you sent a customer on his way in a manner that guaranteed they would not return to you. Having them come back, and buy from someone else, brought a lot of shame on you because it just mean you were an inadequate salesman to begin with and the other guy was able to do what you could not.
