acura dealer put atf-z1 in my 6 speed cl!!! trannys gone
anybody have any idea on steps I can take to get the problem fixed, I want a new tranny but im like 3k miles over my 50k warranty mark, I was looking over my service records and saw they had put 4 qts of atf-z1 in my manual tranny cl? wtf? could that be why my tranny went at 53k miles?

OMG. If the dealer did that they are liable and you have written proof. Contact Acura Customer Service and let them know before you take it in. So you have the backing of them. Next I would go back to the dealer and tell them they ruined your transmission and you expect a new one installed free of charge.

i dont know what they were thinking? the tech that did that should be pimp slapped, I defenantly want a new unit but I know how tough customer service can be, I tried getting some goodwill help from them and they refused, that was before I found some evidence, the plot thickens!

What kind of fluid is supposed to go in your tranny? My CTS-V's 6-spd manual tranny takes automatic tranny fluid so check your service manual to be sure.

hey if you can get a brand new tranny out of it, why not, you could still sell the car and improve the price of the car because it has a brand new tranny.
Or tell them to give you the price of the tranny including labor off the price of a new acura if you are interested in getting a new car.

i think they are trained in the fields of ignorance and how to piss a n***** off!!! I dont see justice in paying $1200 out of my pocket to have them tell me that the tranny is no good!! hello? didnt I just tell them that, and yes I know they are doing it to be sure but it is their product and they should take some sort of loss, I in the meanwhile have to dish out for a rental,... back your product acura? maybe not?

You need to prove that the wrong fluid killed your tranny......it's debatable if the wrong fluid actually did your tranny in. If you can't prove without a doubt that the tranny died from the wrong fluid, then you are in a big uphill battle to have EVERYTHING replaced for free.

SHIT, i just noticed you live in downey! Which dealership did you go to?
my buddy who used to have a CL-S (auto) always went to Downey Acura and had shyt service.
I've been going to Cerritos Acura 9+ years now with no problems.
I hope this didn't happen at Cerritos Acura, because it would be a very rare incident. They have one of the best customer service records with Acura.
Another fact, Downey Acura gave him the run around when he complained about Tranny Failure and they didn't want to fix it. I told him take it to Cerritos, and sure enough they fixed it, unfortunately twice because it failed, but they fixed it nonetheless. Same thing with the Brake FSB, downye acura gave him soem crap story, I told him to get it fixed at Cerritos and he took it there and they honored the FSB no questions asked.
If you need help with this (if you didn't go to Cerritos Acura) let me know I may be able to call up my contacts at Cerritos Acura to see what they can possibly do for ya.

i just want the tranny unit, I will pay for labor, clutch, bearings, flywheel, pressure plate, and by the way had i mentioned my tranny locked and caused a accident!! i should take their ass while I can, but im being very reasonable and simply asking for a new unit or at least 80% of the cost of a new one..

yup, I went to downey acura, now renamed planet acura from what i have heard for legal reasons, which i dont know? and customer service told me to take it t them and pay their fee, $1200 bucks!!?? god, i can tear a tranny apart in about10 minutes, so that comes out to about 7k an hour for labor? LoL i will be willing to pay 2 or three hundred since I have already had the tranny removed for them..

There's your answer why this happened, Downey Acura
After this, if you keep the acura, please switch to cerritos acura. Planet (downey) Acura IMO isn't good at all, and my best friends experiences with them taught me that.
If Dan Salinas, or James Wong, Fred Thornton, or Victor are in the service dept are there, talk to them, they are all great. Tell them Anil sent ya, they'll know who I am. In fact some of the mechanics also know me.

And I will defiantely talk to a lawyer now since it caused an accident. The last thing you need is the liability for that accident to be on you.
