Acura Care Extended Warranty

I am in the process of purchasing a 2004 Acura MDX fully loaded. I am buying from a private luxury auto dealer.

The vehicle has 51k miles and currently carries no warranty.

I am interested in purchasing a plan through Acura Care. How exactly do I do this and how does it work. Just a little new to the whole purchasing extended warranties idea. If anyone can enlighten me as to how this process works that would be great. Is the Acura Care warranty the best deal/safest?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Umm if the car is out of warranty you can't purchase the extended warranty from Acura.

So i wouldn't be able to buy the Acura Care warranty because the car is 1k miles out of its factory warranty? Is this true?

Also the older/more mileage the vehicle has the more expensive the warranty will be. Also I think to be eligible the car must be certified, but not sure.

I purchased my warranty from an Acura dealer online and it was much cheaper than my local dealer.

Anyone else have an exact answer for this? I don't wanna pick up the car today unless i can get an extended warranty. I do not want to purchase through the dealer to their insane markups.

Call your dealer and ask and if they say no call Acuras 800 number and see what they say.

Nvm i just got my answer, car must be in factory warranty to qualify for acura care. However there was a bulletin for 5% odometer discrepancy, which means warrant is covered until 52500, i have 51100, might be good.

How important is the warranty to you?

Counting on getting a warranty based on an odometer discrepancy is a gamble

Nvm discrepancy does not qualify me to purchase acura extended care. Anyone know any good third party warranty company?

Warranty is very important to me, it would actually stop me from buying a car altogether. Anyone know a good 3rd part warranty company?

Might be worth waiting and finding a car with under 50K miles on the clock. 3rd party warranties scare me.

The MDX is very reliable. A warranty would be a waste of $ I think.
If warranty is that important pass up that car & find something with warranty left then buy the extended.

Also you can only get the Acura warranty from an Acura dealer. So you will be stuck paying $$ for it.

Stay away from a third party warranty

My parents have dealt with two different companies and both times got the same results. My parents always got caught in the middle of a blame game. "IF" you can find someone to support the warranty you have purchased the company will try every way to get of paying for the repair.

Just an example of one crappy situation. My parents car needed something replaced and this was being done at the dealer. Well the dealer replaced the part and turned the claim into the warranty company. My parents then received a bill . Turns out the company paid for the parts and labor to replace the broken part but NOT any of the other parts that needed to be removed to get to the part.

If I were you I would look around for a vehicle that you can still get the acura care warranty on. You will also benefit from the road side assistance.

I just want my bases covered. I hope i don't even have to use it. WarrantyDirect seems pretty legit and has worked with a local Acura dealership here before.

Call and check. I think they told me the cutoff was actually 56K when I got my extend warranty on my CL a couple years back.

I would probably want one. I "wasted" $600 to get the warranty on my I35. Called them once to ask a question. Nothing else. But it was worth the piece of mind for as expensive as these repairs can be.

And on my CL, it was good to have. Aside from the transmission, I probably had about $3000 worth of warranty work on my CL.

OP, call and check before you get the car.

hmmm... factory warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles. I doubt that they will bend that rule.
